I posted almost a month ago that my whole family got food poisoning from salmon we bought at Kroger and several people shared similar experiences. I haven't entirely switched to HeB since then because Kroger is so much more convenient for us, but I may have just been convinced. We bought steaks yesterday that are dated for tomorrow. We took one out of the packaging to marinate it and were assaulted with a really foul smell. Also, the meat has gray spots on it that weren't visible until it was unwrapped. My husband took it back, and customer service didn't even apologiZe or act like this was out of the ordinary. No more Kroger meat for us. 

I am starting to have a great dislike for Kroger. Don't much care for HEB and Randall's is out of the question. :). Been buying my meat at Sams

Randall's has awesome meat sales and they are not always advertised. Never got any bad meat from them. 

I just saw a story on the news about this. They were saying the trucks that are carrying meat to the stores are turning off the cold air in the back for hours at a time when they transport the meats to the stores to save money on gas. They actually caught a truck that was doing it. 

That's just criminal! 

Mooky are you talking about Kroger? I learned the hard way not to buy meat at Kroger anymore. 

They didn't say what grocery store the meat was going to. It was the meat company's truck. I wish I could remember where I saw the story. It was just a couple of days ago. The reporter was even talking about the smell of the meat. 

yall are probably rude shoppers to the meat department, gotten plenty of good steaks and burger meat there, of course if you can't properly cook worth a whoot, perhaps that's why you got sick 

I have never had a problem with meat at Randalls. 

I haven't gotten sick by any meat, but I do know it happens! 

Our meat has been hit and miss lately. The smell has been questionable a few times. Kroger is just around the corner, too easy to pass up. But if it keeps getting bad I guess it's HEB. 

I used to love Kroger, but I'm not really a fan now that I've bought rotten chicken there twice and they stopped doubling and tripling coupons. 

Had purchased spoiled meat from Kroger and Sams. Randall's never had a problem. 

I always have problems with HEB but never Krogers or Randalls, even if you cook it they will refund you. Might need to check the setting on your fridge and make sure its keeping the food cold enough without spoiling. I freeze all my meat imediately when I buy it then thaw only before I cook. 

I have never had a problem at Kroger. Or any grocery story. I have had meat issues at the Porter Wal-mart and they refunded my money right away. 

We are an HEB family all the way! 

I get all my meat at Costco, never had a problem. 

I don't buy much stuff at Kroger but when I have, it was ok. Prefer HEB big time. I do like Randall's meat when they have good sales. 

Randalls has the best meats and they run good sales; it's where we get most all our meat. Queencassie- where is the costco? 

lillie, there are three Costco warehouses. One on Greens Road near Willowbrook, one on I10 at Bunkerhill and one on Richmond in the Galleria.

I buy our meat, paper products, laundry soap, etc there. Often fresh fruit as well, great prices on stuff like berries that I can freeze for smoothies later. 

If it smells bad, I just put a dry rub on it and grill it. Fancy restaurants call that "aged beef." 

Shame on you!!!!. Seriously all it will take is one damn time for me or my family to buy bad meat somewhere. Especially Kroger, I never go there, I hate it there.

I only shop at HEB, I inspect the meat very well before I even put in my shopping cart. I trust HEB and love it there.

I guess you have learned your lesson. Or lets hope 

HEB here everything is better 

We've had the same problem with Kroger meat in Atascocita. We now buy our meat from Target...they have fabulous steaks. We buy our groceries and produce from either HEB or Target. 

i buy all my meat at krogers with no issues.. we buy steaks every week ( which ever one is on sale) and we get some of the best tasting and looking steaks there are.. im sorry your having trouble.
