Oh good grief. nurse in. I don't have an issue with a mom nursing in public. I would hope she covers up..But really ? Do you need to sit down in the middle of the clothing department in Target..Can't you just take it to the restaurant area. Nothing to do with what you are doing, but really. Should we all just bring our lunch and sit in the floor of a dept. store. Irrelevant I guess. I am sure most folks would not pick the middle of the floor to do something. Not saying Target necessarily handled it well. But really, people. When in doubt let common sense prevail..
She has a right to do it however and whenever ....anywhere the public is also allowed. U don't know her reason for doing it how she did. Why judge her. I nursed for two n half years and NEVER covered up or had any qualms where I did it.
I dont give a crap about her covering up or not....She can walk around topless for all I care..But I have no desire to shop somewhere where I have to step over people sitting on the floor to do so. And the store has every right to tell her to get off the floor....
Hickman had a basket full of Christmas gifts when Noah awoke, hungry. The quickest way to quiet a baby who needs to eat is to feed him, so Hickman found a remote area of the store, according to a Facebook reconstruction of events, covered up with a blanket and began nursing. Several employees asked her to relocate to a fitting room; one intimated that she could be cited for indecent exposure. No customers complained or apparently even saw Hickman nursing.
The next morning, Hickman called Targets corporate headquarters and says she was told by guest relations just because its a womans legal right to nurse a baby in public doesnt mean she should walk around the store flaunting it. Outraged, Hickman vented to a group of fellow moms, one of whom suggested staging a nurse-in. Word spread, says Hickman, a mother of four, kind of like a marathon race with a baton. I complained, then someone else complained, then someone else complained.
Ok, so, what is the problem? She said she covered up, why would anyone care if she was nursing or not? I would be pissed too if I was told to move because the employee didn't like me nursing my baby WHILE covered up. Too dang bad...it's not indecent exposure by any stretch of the imagination.
She was offered better accommodations but turned them down, I wonder why that was. I think most women are just jealous of real women that can breast feed. Most men are just tired of looking at women with man boobs.
I don't have a problem with nursing if you must but I do like the boob being covered. That way I'm not infringing on your rights and you aren't infringing on mine. I don't want to see a woman whip that baby out (meaning boob) anywhere. Have respect for others along with yourself.
I agree that for the most part the store handled it wrong..She was covered up..That's not even the issue (for me)..Now, if she was like I said, sitting in the rest, or in a chair ,be it public or not...It's not even the breast feeding for me. It's just the general inconsideration of people, and then starting a big ole deal about " oh the indignity" ..
You're comparing peeing to breastfeeding? Seriously?
If people peed wherever they wanted, it would be a public health issue, the same isn't true for a breastfeeding mother. And 90% of nursing mothers, cover up when they're in public. This woman was covered up, so, what difference does it make WHERE she was? Do you like to eat in a public restroom? Why should a breastfeeding baby have to do that? Because it makes YOU uncomfortable to see a woman covered up? How silly.
This isn't about Target & their policies. Quite a few years ago, a former employee who left & moved to Canada came in for a visit with her few month old & proceeded to breast feed the baby. I wouldn't of minded but there was one guy who worked there & he was creepy & I just couldn't believe she did this in front of him. With him it was sexually! So ever since then I just believe it isn't a sexually thing, but there are alot creeps out there that don't see the difference! To them it a breast, tit, boob or whatever people call it and it is sexually!
