Dear Parents,

Late last week, we were made aware of an allegation of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student. The district took immediate action by placing Coach Zachary Harlan on leave. This week, Coach Zachary Harlan resigned. He was a social studies teacher and a coach for football and boys’ soccer. Humble ISD is informing the State Board for Educator Certification of the allegation.

The district cooperates with law enforcement for the safety and welfare of students. This allegation will now be considered by Humble ISD Police, who present investigative results to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

As you can understand, I am unable to provide additional information due to this being an open police investigation.

This is awful. I hope it was only one girl. Being a coach he would have opportunity to mess with lots of girls. I hope it is not true. It would be awful if the girl was lying but at the same time better if she was.

Yes, someone opened a new account and posted that it was a 'rumor' that they had heard...no proof. So, it was right for them to have the thread deleted. If this was not true, it could have ruined this teachers reputation permanently. Today, having a note sent home from the principal, that is a completely different story. I agree with SSFG. Why can't these people find someone of legal age??? And they know if they get caught they will lose their job, and possibly go to jail? Makes no sense. 

Has this been in the news yet? It should be.

It was weird that he was out on leave last week then quit today. My DD said she saw him crying and all kinds of rumors were going around, I didn't really think anything of it because they were rumors ,but then I got the e-mail and about fell out of my chair. My DD is a senior there and knows the teacher. Scary

He is Kingwood High School class of 1997 - around 34 years old. He did 'find someone of his own age'...his wife. They also have three small children. Keep this family, the student, and all affected in your prayers. So very sad. 

Ok, what he did is completely wrong and there is never a reason for taking advantage of an underage girl or boy, but some of these girls are so aggressive. It must be so hard to be a teacher these days. A teacher can be completely innocent and lose a job, if a student has been spurned and wants to get revenge. 

They were seen at the Movies. Plus there are other rumors according to our oldest. He didn't even believe any of it until the letter that was sent to us parents.

Trust me, As a mom of a 16 year old who knew this Coach, I would know if he did anything to my baby.

I think everyone that has a kid there, needs to be asking there kid if anything happened to them. This thing could be bigger than just one kid.

You are so very correct. He is about the age of one of my sons. I pray for his wife and children who are hurting and humiliated by all of the publicity.

That is probably not too weird. He was placed on leave while the district was looking into allegations and that would be standard protocol. Then he may have been given the option to resign or resigned voluntarily knowing what the investigation would make inevitable.

The fact that he would go to a public place like the movies in this area with a student is pretty arrogant, IMO. He had to realize that the chances would be pretty high of someone noticing, particularly if there were already rumors going around.

If he were younger and single I would have a greater understanding of the situation and maybe consider it bad judgement. But he had no business being out with anyone, let alone a student. 

I know this guy's wife. She is the absolute sweetest person you could meet. My heart is broken for her. Please pray that she and their children will heal quickly and be able to move on.

If our kids go to school there, it is our responsibility to gather as much information as possible about this subject. It is not in poor taste, but what he did is in poor taste. He needs to be exposed. There may be others that he had relations with. This is a great way to get the information out and inform parents that may be needing to talk to their kids.

You guys are immediately jumping to the worst case scenario and judging this man before knowing ANY facts.

Right. But you don't resign over sitting next to a student at a movie theater.

Now, i knew this man on and off the field while i was a football player at kpark. He was a little out there but never inappropriate in any way. Lets hope this is a misunderstanding. And lets all remember he has not been charged with anything, they're just allegations. We all know how parents like to flip out over the stupidest crap these days 

There are a lot of horn dog teen age girls that are more hard core than any boy I have ever seen. People need to get the kids under control too.

My son graduated from Kpark and I have two daughters who will go there starting next year. This is a great guy. I would have trusted him with any of my kids. I do not believe these allegations at this point and will withhold judgement til more info is out there. I wish more people would do the same. What happened to innocent until proven guilty???

Don't believe rumors. Rumors are not truth. This is a horrible situation and he does have a wife and kids and his wife is standing by his side. There are no other girls so don't even go there. Let the legal channels take care of this and stop guessing as to what happened.
