CBS just spent all of 15 minutes on the passing of Nancy Reagan. When Whitney Houston passed, hours, days, a WEEK went by ad nauseam with stories of her greatness??? She OD'd. Led her daughter to the same end. GREAT??

WTH is wrong with this world? Sorry... rant over.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

If you support Donald Drumpf, you're part of the problem

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

The reason is ratings. Ratings mean dollars. Content, accuracy, truth, importance, and repercussions don't matter to capitalism. All about maximizing profits at any expense.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

One more point. It's the people who should be ashamed. The media gives the people what they want, which is drama, hate, divisiveness. The media is just the scapegoat.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

how long can they talk about a 94 year old woman who died of natural causes? I'm sure there will be coverage of her funeral.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 9 years ago -

WTH is wrong with this world? Sorry... rant over.

It does illustrate a sad fact that our culture cares more about some pop culture trash.

Puss In Boots --- 9 years ago -

It is a simple popularity formula that is plugged in. Popularity equals air time. Why is this a surprise? The world turns on advertising dollars. Celebrity news has always trumped everything else.

Blame yourself.

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

How is this my fault? I'm just a peon KU poster.... Effect... 0!

BTW, it's no wonder Trump is winning. Regardless of the conversation or platform, the name or reference to Trump is always present, without fail!

Puss In Boots --- 9 years ago -

Freebryd, not you yourself!!
Us ourselves!
Don't blame the media blame ourselves.

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

Thx PIB 😺

Just stuck --- 9 years ago -

freebyrd she isn't even cold yet. How do you know there won't be more coverage? DUH! Just acting in your righteous bigmouth way as usual.

Puss In Boots --- 9 years ago -

How rude. You are part of the civility problem in this country.

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

Name speaks for itself!! LOLOL!

Just stuck --- 9 years ago -

That there is funny!

Hiro Protagonist --- 9 years ago -

Not to be a jerk, but a woman in her 90's dying isn't exactly a surprise. A famous woman dying in her 40's is usually going to be a bigger story. People are going to want to know how and why the 40 year old died. There is none of that when the person is in their 90's.

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

"That there is funny"

😉

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

I agree, its about what gets the most interest. And as pointed out, shes a very elderly woman passing on and thats not as scandalous as a singing icon who died tragically and too early. Both are sad but a younger person who dies way too early and in a unnatural way is just more of an attention getter.

RIP, Nancy. It seemed you led a very full life, i hope thats true.

Leila --- 9 years ago -

She lived a very long and full life and I am sure she was ready to go. From all accounts, she knew great love with her husband even though her relationship with her children always seemed sad to me.

As far as comparing her death with Whitney Houston, my mind didn't even go there. One was a tragic wasting of great beauty and talent way too soon due to a lifestyle. I think despite her demons, people were shocked that someone with so much promise died in a hotel bathtub. Just like Michael Jackson, she was Icon of talent to many people.

BTW- CNN has covered Nancy nonstop since the story broke. Maybe you should change channels.

Froggie --- 9 years ago -

BTW- CNN has covered Nancy nonstop since the story broke.

Thanks Leila.

I agree with the birdie, this should be receiving more coverage than it's getting.

= /

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

"FOX"y lady here! ;)

I will give CNN kudos in this case however!

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

"FOX"y lady here

Well, there's your problem...

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

RIIIIIGHT!?!?! LOLOL!

Hiro Protagonist --- 9 years ago -

I didn't realize she was still alive...I thought she died years ago.

RIP, Nancy.

And the comparison to Whitney Houston is stupid.

Dorothy Parker --- 9 years ago -

^^^ That was me, sorry! Didn't realize he was still logged in.

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

That's OK DP, I know you love me :p

a889324uu --- 9 years ago -

What are you talking about? It's on the news, both TV and social media, nonstop.

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

Obviously my calls to the networks did the trick!

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 9 years ago -

The media would rather cover the death of a waste of skin drug addict. Thats the sad truth.

Holling Vincoeur --- 9 years ago -

She had to pick the day Peyton Manning announced his retirement.

Eliza2 --- 9 years ago -

There is no news in the passing of a kind, generous, elderly, LADY. It is news when a drug addicted Beoch passes....Its our world folks.

mutton --- 9 years ago -

OMG, how selfish...

Puss In Boots --- 9 years ago -

NBC nightly news doing a great piece now.

sheddy --- 9 years ago -

You were just watching the wrong channel. There was and is coverage. I think the big three don't do non stop coverage anymore, since they know the news channels have it covered.

them --- 9 years ago -

RIP Nancy

I like that...

3rd generation hippie --- 9 years ago -

CNN had a show on seconds after the announcement. Clearly it was pre-produced and on the ready. This was expected.

Tiffany1989 --- 9 years ago -

Whiteney Houston wasn't responsible for crack getting into the inner cities

freebyrdll --- 9 years ago -

Your prejudice is showing Tif.... The inner city does not have the corner on crack and its multi-racial addicts.

Joe Blow --- 9 years ago -

Tiffany is a pubie racist troll. Could be any one of a number of KU regulars. Set to ignore.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Tiffany is Joey/Judy's newest troll alt.
