Something to think about this memorial day weekend.

Celebrate the service of those, Irish included, who defended the freedoms of a country to permit the public to decide.

RedMulch --- 8 years ago -

Some of those decisions are wrong. But that is what we fought for. And that is what is valuable here on earth. and that value should prevail. God Bless America!

eterry2 --- 8 years ago -

Great news Ireland!

james osterberg --- 8 years ago -

Patrick Fitzsimon & Simon Fitzpatrick. It all works.

Miss Understanding --- 8 years ago -

Some of those decisions are wrong.

In your opinion and mine also but not in the majority.

DVaz --- 8 years ago -

Surprising coming from such a conservative country.

Max01 --- 8 years ago -

"

Are you frickin' kidding me! You really think those soldiers who died for our country died for the freedom for homosexuals to get married? That's sick and disrespectful to our fallen heroes.

Here's something better. This Memorial Day think about our fallen heros and the sacrifices they made. Sadly the enemy they were fighting are now coming from within.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Something to think about this memorial day weekend.

Yeah. This isn't something to think about on Memorial Day weekend.

Do you even understand what the meaning of Memorial Day is?

TheDukeShoot2013 --- 8 years ago -

There was a beautiful rainbow over Ireland. Has anyone seen the photos? God approves.

?And God said, ?This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth?? (Genesis 9:12-13).

Sheesh...........

The symbol of gay pride. Mother Nature and God have spoken.

The symbol of gay pride. Mother Nature and God have spoken.

You guys are really reaching with this one.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

This is what God actually said:

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

Them rainbows were obviously for something else.

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Sober up, Soup.

And for Max : Do you think they died for only people who think like you?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Sober up, Soup.

You forgot the Slim Jim reference.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Gay marriage in Ireland has NOTHING to do with Memorial Day in the US.

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Must be time for another beer and Slim Jim, Soup.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Must be time for another beer and Slim Jim, Soup.

How predictable.

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Yes, it is.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Just how many beers and Slim Jims have you had this evening, Butter?

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Zero, Soup. I'm a weirdo, non drinker, non red meat eater.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Is Slim Jim even meat?

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Don't know. Found this:

Some of you may be pleased to find out that, yes, that is indeed (at least partially) real beef you're shoving into your body. That is, in addition to mechanically separated chicken, corn and wheat proteins, lactic acid cultures, dextrose, salt, sodium nitrite, and the ever-tasty hydrolyzed soy.Jun 11, 2014

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Either way.............

Gay marriage in Ireland has NOTHING to do with Memorial Day in the US.

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

In Ireland they call it Commemoration Day, I think. Same type celebration for those that died for the right of people to choose. It's called freedom.

See my original post up there.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

That's not until July.

You're really reaching here.

Neither of them have anything to do with gay marriage.

Miss Understanding --- 8 years ago -

How many times are you going to repeat this sentiment? We get it. You are a homophobe. Take it to your therapist.

Judas --- 8 years ago -

I thought you had a homofear of your own Misunderstood.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

You are a homophobe.

Far from it.

I'm just a misinformationphobe.

Max01 --- 8 years ago -

"And for Max : Do you think they died for only people who think like you?"

Don't know.

So if it works for protecting the rights of the Irish to vote for homosexual marriage. Then it works for individual states that voted against homosexual marriage, not to be over turned by activist judges.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 8 years ago -

Precisely. Remember Prop 8 in Cali?

That was also the opinion of the majority who voted.

FenceSitterNoMore --- 8 years ago -

Ireland is going to have another potato famine and gerbil shortage!

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

As I understand it, the vote was to change two parts of the Irish constitution. The referendum was recommended by constitutional committee and had two parts. The marriage "without distinction to their sex" was one part.

The vote gives direction to change the Irish Constitution. The process will apparently be set in motion and a constitutional amendment will be offered and voted on.

And yes, I am thankful for and owe a great debt to those who gave their lives so citizens could exercise the right of choice.

I am a veteran and this is my opinion and I have the right to it, without apology to anyone.

JuanSequin --- 8 years ago -

Yay! We should definitely celebrate gay Irish cake day on the U.S. Memorial Day. I'm sure that's that was the dying wish our dead loved ones were fighting for.
