...you are officially trash! It's almost February people!

RedMulch --- 10 years ago -

somebody in SWH does I see them every morning. I think it is cool. When I lived in Wisconsin, people kept theirs up until spring because the snow was so deep.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

This is big weekend coming, bet they do not take them down just yet, lol.

Porterican --- 10 years ago -

I thought you were going to say "you are from Porter".

mutton --- 10 years ago -

lmao

a889324uu --- 10 years ago -

My neighbors have one strand of lights dangling - it's weird looking.

Living on base, you'd routinely see trees and lights up well into the new year. Lots of deployed service members would celebrate when they got home. That didn't bother me.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Not sure why it bothers people.

Personally I kind of like them. Maybe that's why I moved to Porter.

You should consider taking a laxative or something...

Exactly mutton - get over this people. Since I moved here 11yrs I noticed a lot of whiners, complainers & nosey people. MYOB because nobody really cares what you think. You're really a nobody..................

them --- 10 years ago -

Those of you that see no problem with keeping holiday lights up well past the actual holiday, what village do you live in and what's your reason for not taking them down?

Franklin --- 10 years ago -

I take mine down after New Years, but I don't really care when other people take theirs down. Why should I?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

Boy, that Google Earth comes in handy, don't it???

Lol

CavemanBarney --- 10 years ago -

Hey, my porch light is broke, I need those lights out there.

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

I have one tree that has lights on it. I took everything else down way before New Years. That tree was hard to wrap and will be more hard to take down. I have to get the heavy ladder out and risk killing myself. My neighbors love me and don't care and I bet they have a strand or two up still. There's many more important things to do today...like go to Costco!
And there are yard lights for sale right now for Valentines and Easter. How do you know if they are not those?

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

...you are officially trash! It's almost February people!?

Never take the christmas lights down before valentines day. that's my rule.

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

Especially if they are RED!

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

And you put some hearts around them!

WatchOut --- 10 years ago -

Hey leave me out of it. LOL

mutton --- 10 years ago -

I have none up, never did...

Edited and iced

DrowningFish --- 10 years ago -

What. No. You need to be iced.

LitlJay --- 10 years ago -

I have an elderly neighbor who lives alone, so she rarely puts lights up (although she does decorate the yard a little). Once or twice a year her grown (but not adult) DD burns through another sugar daddy and moves in with her until she finds another sucker. Last year it was close to Christmas, so she deiced to "help" by putting lights on her mother's house, but found a new sucker to crash with and moved out before taking them down. Those lights stayed up there most of the year. I offered to take them down a few times and she declined, insisting she would get her son in law to do it.

Is my neighbor "trash" because those lights stayed up until almost October?

Christmas day and a whirlwind anniversary weekend at the Menger last week are the only days off I've had since mid-december. Amidst 80-90 hour weeks, it's a miracle I got mine down in the second week of January. Not everybody is as active as me or has as much able-bodied help in arm's reach as I do.

You might have answered your own question with this little nugget of information...

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

There are so many more important things than if someone has their lights still up.

them --- 10 years ago -

...like spending time on KU telling people their annoyances are trivial?

Dorothy Parker --- 10 years ago -

I'd rather have Christmas lights up year round, than live in a bad neighborhood. Stuff like that doesn't bother me, especially after living in a neighborhood where homeless people dug through your trash and junkies broke into your house.

mynewid --- 10 years ago -

We live against a nature preserve and decided to keep ours up along the back fence. We don't plug them in every night but sure are pretty reflecting off the pool when we do.

OL AG 89 --- 10 years ago -

Because the liberals and anti-Christmas coalition has decided we can't use Christmas, I now officially call the 6000 lights strung through the trees and bushes "SEASONAL CELABRATORY" lighting.....

I do take the reindeer out of the yard and Santa and his sled off the roof.

So we get a pass right?

them --- 10 years ago -

Frankly I'm surprised the number of people that got their panties in a knot about this.

Those that don't see a problem with Christmas lights in February never did post which village they live in.

MarthaStewart --- 10 years ago -

Leaving your christmas lights up past the holidays is rather selfish and shows poor class. Typically is isn't just a matter of lights not being taken down but the home and yard is also unkept.

If you want to live in such a manner you should have purchased in a area with no deed restrictions.

To purchase with such rules and ignore them teaches your children the rules of life do not apply. It may seem trivial but the message is loud and clear.

Show some class and remove your lights in a timely manner and be respectful to yourself and your neighbors.

That is all.

Just stuck --- 10 years ago -

Ohhhh martha That did give me a laugh and for DPR - Bear Branch

Identity Crisis --- 10 years ago -

OMG... this isn't such short big deal.

them --- 10 years ago -

Neither is getting off your azz and taking down those lights...

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

Maybe you could get a group together and ask the family if you could help them take them down since it bothers you so much. Maybe there is a reason, perhaps they are working long shifts before a layoff in oil, a family illness, inability to get on a ladder?
Our elderly neighbors went to California for 2 months just before Christmas and I have gone over and gotten mail and kept their yard looking decent. They didn't ask me to do anything but the mail but I am because at 78 he has mowed my yard before because I was out of town. That is what good neighbors do.

Just stuck --- 10 years ago -

But it's so festive, you can put them on whenever you want or not! What's trashy about lights? I'm never ever taking my down.....................

ladybeachbum --- 10 years ago -

I know, right? They sell patio lights and now Valentines and Easter lights. I see lots of homes that have lights on different areas of the home all year. To my knowledge, there is no deed restrictions on lights except maybe if they have a high powered flood light disturbing the neighbor.
