We are looking for basic lawn service. Modest sized front and back yard in Elm Grove. Can anybody recommend a service and what's the going rate?

We use them as well! They are great! We pay them $35, (he actually charges us $30) & our yard is huge! 

I use BM.. Love them, they always leave my lawn looking great. Very reasonable cost.

I'm in Elm Grove and use BM Landscaping. They charge me $30 plus $5 when I get bushes trimmed and weeds taken care of.

Yes. I started doing our lawn again a few years ago. You're right, it is good exercise and we no longer have a weed problem.

Was wondering the same thing! Most lawns around here are so skimpy that I can't imagine paying someone to do it. 11yo DS does ours and it doesn't take him an hour. At the risk of being blasted, I think it's a southern thing. I never saw people having lawn service in the north. 

If we hadn't just moved from an apartment to a house, we would probably own a lawnmower. But my husband just retired from the Army, and he went without a job for a month and a half, and STILL hasn't received a paycheck. We used the money we had to pay all the costs of moving into a house. When it starts getting difficult to find your dog in the backyard, it's time for a quick fix. i.e. A cheap lawn service! 

Having lived in both Texas and up north, labor round here is MUCH more affordable. 

I guess I was thinking about my neighbor who is a SAHM and has a cleaning lady and a lawn guy for a 2000sf 1-story house. I don't get it. 

I guess I'm too much of a tightwad. Like to save money where I can. I see lawn service as a luxury. 

My issue is more of a time one, than cost. I'd rather spend my time doing other things so I'm willing to pay to have it done. It's just little ole me and would take me all morning to mow, edge, clean up and I'd be exhausted afterwards. 

Be careful using their weed service. They use Roundup and several of my mature bushes have died and I am convinced it is because the roundup got on the bushes too. 

Mr. Charli and our offspring manage our yard and pool. They do a fine job. Yard and soil rehab is a lesson in patience. Almost time to seed winter rye!

Me too! I've got a pretty good sized lawn and if it takes me 2 days to do it - so what!
It is good exercise. I do get my grandsons to mow during the summer. They appreciate earning a little money and I appreciate their help. They are back in school again so I'm on my own and don't mind it. 

I mow. Sometimes I mow my neighbor's yard it's that fun. Actually my mower mows and I just walk behind it. I actually hate mowing but love to edge that sharp knife-cut edge and blow the debris with my backpack blower.

I agree. Proper edging requires a blade, not a weed eater. Another reason to not use yard guys. 

We use BM. Very reasonable..$27 front and back for Bear Branch lawn every other week. Can't mow, spouse has COPD and I have RA. Old age sucks doesn't it. We used to enjoy working in the yard.
