1. It's kinda *deleted- warning* to post a controversial topic and then lock it without allowing any discussion/argument.
I think that's more a clear indication as to why the United States is in decline than just about anything else.
THAT SAID, I will now climb onto my soap box.
Another clear indication that this nation is in decline is the inability of people to THINK for themselves. Their desire to be led by the hand (or by the nose)by pundits who preach what they find easy to believe.
Calling Barack Obama a socialist is simply an attempt to demonize the man. Nothing more. It has no basis in fact. Those that call him a socialist are pointing to the icing and trying to define the cake.
I suggest that everyone go learn what a Socialist is. Really. Obama isn't even close.
And no, I'm not going to provide a link...do some work! It's not like Socialism hasn't been defined ten billion times on the net.
I HIGHLY recommend reading the manifesto. Yes, it's painful to read. But so many interesting books are.
There is a difference between a SOCIAL PROGRAM (and supporting it) and SOCIALISM.
Fact of the matter is, when Americans speak of socialism, they're speaking about people like Marx, Stalin, Lenin, Castro, etc. But these people weren't socialist. They were (are...is Fidel still with us..I've lost track) despots using a socialism framework to prop up their dictatorships.
You can find plenty of people who say that he IS a socialist, but if you delve just a little deeper, you find that they have an agenda. If you simply look at the basic requirements for being a socialist without the political dogma... he simply doesn't fit.
That's not to say that there aren't plenty of reasons to criticize Obama. There are. But use real reasons and not B.S. like this.
I'm getting off my soapbox now. And I'm NOT going to lock this topic. Because the free exchange of ideas IS an American value. Stifling that free exchange most certainly is not.
Obama is a socialist. Many Democrats in Congress are socialists.
And you are somewhat right on one thing. The inability of some, such as 95% of the black voters for example, to not think for themselves, otherwise they wouldn't continue to vote for people who support policies that haven't worked for almost 50 years. Policies that continue to enslave them to the Democrats and the Federal Government.
Why? Some people want to post their thoughts and really don't feel the need to discuss them or debate them or be told they are wrong such as you did when you told freebyrdII that prayer isn't an answer.
You are free to open a topic such as this for your purpose just as they are free to open one for theirs.
By the way, calling another KUer names such as that is not looked kindly here.
I told Freebyrd that "prayer" wasn't an answer to my question because it wasn't. If you can't handle being told you're wrong, well... that's a personal problem.
And it is -deleted- to open a divisive topic and then lock it. It's an attempt to stifle discussion and it shows a weak spirit. It turns the post into a declaration that cannot be argued with. It's cowardly. And I don't have to respect that.
Because the free exchange of ideas IS an American value. Stifling that free exchange most certainly is not.
How has the free exchange of ideas been stifled in any way? Just because that other topic was locked in no way infringed upon or stopped you from starting this topic, did it?
If you really wanted to discuss the topic, instead of just rant about it being locked, you could have easily done so. This thread just makes it look like you're upset that you didn't get to confront someone.
rather than actually discussing the topic put forth in the other thread.
Whine and complain, eh? Yeah..those are emotionally charged words designed to deflect.
THE TOPICS OF THIS THREAD, since you missed them... are:
A: The -deleted- tactic of locking a thread to prevent discussion.
B: The fact that the other poster wouldn't know a socialist to save his/her/it's life.
YOU are the one getting off topic here.
Your freedom of speech does not extend to lies, misinformation, and propaganda. Plain and simple. YOU do not have the right to blatantly lie and not expect to be taken to task for it. Plain and simple. Especially in a venue of this nature.
If that's what you want. Start a blog with no way for anyone to contact you. I'm sure you'll get a big ole following of other "Non-elitist" types with limited education. Enjoy.
And no, I won't get over myself.
"Get over yourself" is the motto of pathetic losers everywhere. People say that because THEY aren't as good as they think they are.
And you're just an angry ranter, that can do nothing but hurl insults. If you don't like people locking threads, then you're the one that needs to start his own forum and run it how he sees fit. Until then you just keep on ranting and keep that blood pressure and bile up.
I'm pretty sure that altering words to get past the profanity filter is grounds for getting iced here, too
There is one thing that I wholeheartedly support... that is blocking individual posters... especially when they've shown that they have absolutely ZIPPO clue and are more than happy to accept the lies that people spread.
You go ahead and be a little drone because you've just joined that club.
especially when they've shown that they have absolutely ZIPPO clue and are more than happy to accept the lies that people spread.
and now you're deflecting and creating your own lies out of whole cloth. You have absolutely no idea what I believe about the topic in the other thread, because I never offered an opinion on it. But you just blindly lump anyone who disagrees with you as an enemy, then start hurling insult.
You fake outrage is nothing but pitifully amusing.
