One Nation Under God --- 13 years ago -

How early is to early??? This is my absolute favorite time of year. We usually put our tree/decorations up on Thanksgiving evening. Kind of a family tradition. I always hate it when it is time to take the tree down. It just goes by too quickly.

Abigail --- 13 years ago -

After Thanksgiving...celebrate one holiday at a time...that's all I can handle, lol.

SineadORebellion --- 13 years ago -

Week after Thanksgiving

Tylers Journey --- 13 years ago -

Thanksgiving evening is when we put ours up and I take it down anytime after Christmas. Most of the time it comes down the day after Christmas after all the gifts are put away.

One Nation Under God --- 13 years ago -

I usually don't take my tree down until like Jan. 10th or so. I love to sit by it at night with all the lights off except the tree lights. So peaceful. I can't believe it is almost that time again. Where does the time go?

SineadORebellion --- 13 years ago -

My inlaws still have their tree up. NO joke. LOL :)

Tipsyhic --- 13 years ago -

December 22.

Oh, that is to funny! Now I don't feel so bad for leaving mine up for so long. Do they just leave it up year round sinead?

marthas attic (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I like to start decorating early Nov. but nothing outside until after Thanksgiving. But it takes a long time to put everything up so I like to get started early.

They kept meaning to take it down and it just never got done, lol. Its in a formal living room that is never used so its an out of sight, out of mind kinda thing! She was going to take it down in August and I told her not to! Mine as well just leave it! :) I am sure it will get taken down after this Christmas though.

Dorothy Parker --- 13 years ago -

this is one area where I can give Martha's Attic a compliment! That woman is very good at decorating!!

I'm jealous...seriously.

One Nation Under God --- 13 years ago -

Some people leave them up year round and call them "season trees". They decorate them according to each season/holiday...Easter, Valentines day, 4th or July etc...

justcat --- 13 years ago -

We traditionally shoot for Thanksgiving weekend..But its gotten complicated enough that we have to get things down earlier, a couple of weeks at least, and start checking bulbs etc....so.And then it takes a couple of days..So, we are kinda rethinking our plan this year. When TG falls late, It can sometimes be the first of Dec before everything is done..I decorate a lot inside for fall, so that transition is slow also..

One Nation Under God --- 13 years ago -

I guess I'm just getting anxious, lol. This little cold front we've had for the past few days has put me in the mood for hot chocolate, my fall yankee candles and my Christmas tree. Can't wait. :)

Rollinglettuce --- 13 years ago -

I want to put them up now!!

One Nation Under God --- 13 years ago -

I know....right??? :)

texanbrit --- 13 years ago -

Thanksgiving evening or the day after thanksgiving, I try and put out the lights outside in the front yard because they are more hidden and I try to stay on somewhat of the game to save myself so much work after thanksgiving :)

This.

Bornanraisedkw --- 13 years ago -

Thanksgiving morning ;)

Rollinglettuce --- 13 years ago -

I put them up as soon as I finish my black Friday shopping.

RedMulch --- 13 years ago -

I'm thinking i will put mine up tomorrow......lol

It's special this year cause my kids and grandkids are coming to TEXAS for Christmas!!!

Rubicon --- 13 years ago -

I put mine up sometime in December when I can't stand the kids pestering me anymore.

My mom said when she was a kid no one decorated until right before Christmas. And it was unheard of to have any sort of Christmas party until Christmas or after.

Gigix4 --- 13 years ago -

If you need to get into the spirit of Christmas decorating, make a trip to Garden Ridge and maybe Hobby Lobby. It is Christmas everywhere!
I'm usually one to do it the day after Thanksgiving but after going through Garden Ridge the other day, I could almost talk myself into doing it now.

~Songbird~ --- 13 years ago -

I'm a grinch. I hate decorating for Christmas. I put it off as long as I can until my kids force me to. lol. Bah! HUMBUG!

LOL ... I am usually the same way. The whole time I'm putting it up, I'm thinking how much work it is to put it up ... in just a few weeks.
If it wasn't for the grand babies, I wouldn't do it at all.

that's definitely a big part of it for me! that and the fact that I think it's too commercialized and the real meaning behind it has become completely lost in most cases.

Gigix4 --- 13 years ago -

So true.

camaro --- 13 years ago -

Four years ago, for two years in a row, we got a "Best Lights" sign in our yard. The last two years, despite major effort, nothing. This year my daughter is determined to reclaim our glory. She has already started design work. Its crazy but kids grow up so quickly and I don't want to miss this special time.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 13 years ago -

I stopped doing Christmas when the kids weren't kids anymore, but when I did it, it was day after Thanksgiving, and then New Year's day-

Gigix4 --- 13 years ago -

I would have but then along came the grand babies! :)

In AbsentiaW --- 13 years ago -

Put 'em up? Hell we never take the outside lights down, do yo?

In reality we do not put any decorations until after we have buried the turkey on Thanksgiving.

Unlike the stores who put theirs up just after the Easter bunny leaves town.

Awww, good for you Redmulch. Enjoy your kids and grandkids. :)

Healthier Me --- 13 years ago -

Around Halloween.

I run 50,000 lights.

RedMulch --- 13 years ago -

I wonder if the drought will make a Christmas light restriction be put in place? just askin

crazypinetrees --- 13 years ago -

I have to start with my lights before Thanksgiving....it takes me awhile....lol The tree goes up Thanksgiving weekend.

Perfection --- 13 years ago -

I love Christmas and Christmas decorations but I'm not sure we are putting anything up this year at all either inside or outside.

Meme2my5 --- 13 years ago -

Me too. It takes a week for the yard to get done (thank you dds). The tree goes up the sun after Thanksgiving. Then the hard part starts, the shopping.
