Brandy is out....Jennifer, Kyle, and Bristol in the finals

crazyfun2baround --- 14 years ago -

I was totally shocked. What is it that Bristol is still in? I mean I think she is trying hard. But, Brandy???? Wow!

Yeah, by voting for people who can't even hide the fact that they don't know what they're doing.

lindagail --- 14 years ago -

But...this is what you get when you have a show that is strickly judged by voting. If professionals were judging only then it would most likely be a different story. It is all about the votes not the moves.

I don't watch this show regularly but I have tuned in to this current series and have seen Bristol dance and she was purely and simply awful. Brandy is much, much better. Although Bristol is improving, there is no way she should have beat Brandy out. But if it's not about just the dancing then I guess anything goes as far as the judging and voting...

mommie21g1b --- 14 years ago -

Bristol has improved dramatically. Since she doesn't have the performance background that the others have, she has done really well. If the show was just about scores, she would have been gone long ago, however the format allows 50% of the overall score to come from votes. That is just how it goes. Audrina was voted out with really high scores, but low votes early on this season. I think Bristol is doing very well given she has no performance background-she couldn't even hide the fact that she felt bad Brandy was voted off. I really wouldn't be surprised if she won. I thought all 4 did a great job and were fun to watch.

Mabs --- 14 years ago -

I don't watch it, but come on...this is HYSTERICAL. I feel sorry for those that have invested time in it. It's a complete joke. No?

ghostpost --- 14 years ago -

Well, I don't think she all that good, but I do agree that she has improved. I think her comments the other night should have been more modest...when she said something to the effect that at least she wasn't fake, it sounded catty..maybe it came out wrong. At least she's making good money to support herself and her son. I read that they get a big sum for every show that they make to the next round. But, no way is she a better dancer than Brandy or even the other ones cut before her. Even Mrs. Brady was a better dancer than she is.

But the problem with the show for me is the casting. They put people that have a dance and performing background like Brandy and Jennifer Gray up against people with no dance training or even stage experience...then there are the professional skaters, which is akin to being a professional dancer IMO. It is like comparing apples and oranges.

Ever wonder what's in it for the stars and dancers, aside from fame and glory? Recent information from TMZ shines some light on what was previously a very murky subject.

Because she's a minor, Shawn Johnson's agreement with DWTS had to be approved by an L.A. County judge. The contract, a public document because it was filed with the court, was obtained by TMZ and contains juicy details about the stars' compensation for appearing on the show.

Initial guaranteed salary: $125,000. Then Shawn earned $10,000 per week for weeks 3 and 4. Each additional week she survived after that was worth an escalating bonus: $20,000 each for weeks 5-7; $30,000 each for weeks 8 and 9; and a whopping $50K each for weeks 10 and 11.

In total, she earned the maximum possible $365,000 for making it to the final show! Additional details: A commitment to train around 20 hours per week, and a waiver releasing ABC and the show's producers from liability for any injuries connected to the show. Good thing, this season!

Previously, Howard Stern had provided the only concrete info about DWTS salaries, after his wife Beth Ostrosky turned down an offer to appear on Season 3 of DWTS. He said she also was offered a base salary of of $125,000 to appear on the show, plus $20,000 per week that she managed to stay on the show without being eliminated, and a $50,000 bonus if the show was extended to a ninth-week recap show. (There were fewer stars and thus fewer episodes in Season 3.) Total: Up to $245,000 depending on when she was eliminated.

An undated item from Amazon Answers echoed that $245K claim, and says that the first-season stars only made $125,000 for the whole season, apparently before the show was the proven hit it later became.

As for the professional dancers, the only references we could find (also undated) said they make 5,200 per episode, up from around $1,600 in earlier seasons. Even that higher number seems seriously low at this point, given the show's success and the increasing popularity of some of the pros like Julianne and Derek Hough.

I don't watch the show like I used to....it is definitely a "popularity" contest. Too bad real talent is not rewarded with moving forward.

Apparently, some people are still huge fans....

MADISON, Wis. — Authorities say a 67-year-old rural Wisconsin man enraged over Bristol Palin's "Dancing with the Stars" routine blasted his television with a shotgun, leading to an overnight standoff with a SWAT team.

A Dane County Sheriff's detective says in court documents that Steven Cowan, of the town of Vermont, felt Palin was not a good dancer and was only on the show because of her famous mother.

They say Cowan loaded his shotgun and blasted the TV before turning the gun on his wife, who escaped.

Tactical officers surrounded the home and managed to talk Cowan out Tuesday morning.

Cowan was charged second-degree reckless endangerment and could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Authorities say he has bipolar disorder.
