A woman was sexually assaulted at East End Park on Friday. Scary stuff. Be careful out there ladies, especially if you're alone.

I guess it's time to arm up? I don't believe in fear. And it has NO place in my life.
But the reality is, women are targets. And we aren't as physically strong as the men who chose to assault, rape, rob and attack women.

Now in broad daylight in a park where lots of other people apparently were, we can't enjoy a walk in the park.

Domestic violence homicides are also up in Houston. 20% of all murders in Houston last year were domestic violence related, a 38% increase over 2017. 85% of all domestic violence victims are women.

It's sad, but true.

After reading the article there's no doubt a violent assault. How did they get sexual assault from that? 

Because the news media rarely reports the full story?

It was on the police report. She was violently raped, beaten and bitten all over. 

I saw the Crime blotter report. It says ADULT SEXUAL ASSAULT w/ PENETRATION.

Sad. It's a beautiful park. I walked the trails there for 3 hours 2 days before. I sat on a bench and had a light lunch. Creep had better not run into me! All my anger towards every creepy man will be taken out on him! Sicko!!

Also: A man in a white truck has been seen 2-3 times near the school Woodbranch?? Elem or something on Mills Branch Rd. Students reported being harassed by him.

Dare we admit humanity is evil without the influence of something good?

I always advocate for women to take multiple marshal art classes. Starting at middle school level. As to the arms..I dont want to be shot by a person that missed their target and got me or a loved one.

Mark,you can be against people having arms but the reason you stated isn’t based in reality. Unless you’re participating in the commission of a crime, how are you in danger in that scenario?

Unless you were there in East End Park that Friday, you probably had nothing to worry about.

My dad tried to get my mom to carry, but she won’t do it. She says she doesn’t trust her ability to react quick enough without panicking.

My dad carries for his job but I don’t think I have ever seen him carrying while out in public.

I wish we could go back in time and stop this guy but really the only thing people can do is learn lessons to prevent this from happening again.
But I still think a woman jogging alone should probably arm herself and mentally rehearse scenarios where she might need to use a weapon.

Martial Arts, not Marshall! Unless you are a big and strong woman martial arts won't do a damn thing against an average size male hellbent on physically assaulting you. 

Yep. Some people need a bullet, it's the only language they speak. Many of us feel this goes against all our instincts and beliefs, but it's a life and death issue.
