Why is it when mass shootings with non "assault" rifle guns are used, you hear crickets around here? I think I can answer it. Because assault rifles aren't the cause of mass shootings. Ban them and the psychos use pistols. Ban pistols and they use shotguns. And before you can say shotguns can't do as much damage, imagine being in that same bar with a lunatic armed with a sawed off shotgun without a plug shooting buckshot into the crowd. So it really boils down to the right to bear arms. And it gets a lot quieter around here when that the true discussion.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Yep. Black guns scary!

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

So it really boils down to the right to bear arms.
The right to bear arms was made to stop government oppression. An armed public halts government oppression.
So, mass killings are not part of that discussion.

SodaPopAndRitalin --- 6 years ago -

The reason you're hearing crickets is because the shooter was a white male.

That's it.

If he were brown or Muslim, there would be a thread three pages long discussing how dangerous immigrants and Muslims were. And you darn well know it.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

LOL sure thing. There was a thread a mile long about the Vegas shooter. But keep on with your vapid virtue signaling. It's glorious.

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

The reason you're hearing crickets is because the shooter was a white male.

No. I just don't care.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

I honestly think this is way more of a mental health issue than a gun issue- as far as Muslim shooters, there's a perfectly good reason for people to mention that- soda pop, are you really saying the terrorists from the middle east aren't a real issue?

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Anybody that decides it's a good thing to shoot up a crowd of strangers is having mental health issues. Normal people simply don't even go there in their minds.

As far as Muslim shooters, bombers, stabbers, van drivers etc, they are driven by an extreme (some say literal) interpretation of their religious doctrine, which in and of itself is a mental health issue. They're brainwashed and fully indoctrinated in their beliefs.

soda pop, are you really saying the terrorists from the middle east aren't a real issue?

That's exactly what she's saying. Cue the parroting of Don Lemon "white men are the real terrorists" blah blah blah.

But muh patriarchy! YAWN...

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

I honestly think this is way more of a mental health issue than a gun issue-
Yes!!!

So you'd feel better if the shooter had a legitimately purchased fire arm vs an automatic fire arm? Kind of an ignorant question / statement. Makes me believe you really don't want a discussion. Just fishing for a confrontation.

Agreed.
Also to add. Maybe the military could do more with the exit procedure out of the military. Sort of an exit boot camp. With jobs and or an education.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Its not legal to purchase an automatic weapons without an FFL.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

The educational opportunities in the military are excellent. The newer versions of the GI bill are excellent. What do you want, someone to spoon feed you.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

Guns don't kill people. People kill people WITH guns.

It's a horrible day we live in. People filled with hate slaughtering innocent people. How do you handle HATE?? How do you handle monitoring people who no one knows will even act this way? We all know we can't. So we as the potential prey to these hate mongers must be vigilant, be aware that now this can happen anywhere. It is everywhere. Do you need a gun now just to protect yourself? Idk. Maybe. But it's obvious that gun laws don't effect those who chose to do this, THAT we know for sure.

This is the new evil.

Not KU --- 6 years ago -

bob,,, do you really care if your mass shooter has an FFL or not? Moreover, do you care if that shooter has taken advantage of the potential educational benefits afforded to them by the VA? If your mass shooter is fmr miltary...duh

You seriously lack common sense. And empathy.
It took the military 90 days to take a person from a civilian to a soldier. I think they should invest that kind of time to return them back to civilian. Is my point with education. Stop trolling my comments. lwr case bob.

Not KU --- 6 years ago -

How do you handle HATE??

Maybe you could ice them....

SoupIsGoodFood --- 6 years ago -

What do you want, someone to spoon feed you.

You already know the answer to that question.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Mark, post military education is called the GI Bill.

So you'd feel better if the shooter had a legitimately purchased fire arm vs an automatic fire arm?

Weren't you the one who said this?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

afforded to them by the VA?

Your uninformed comments are just shocking The VA doesn't get involved with post military education.

Lay off the green stuff, Mark. The comment had NOTHING to do about fully automatic weapons. The point was supposed to be, when "assault style" weapons are used in mass killings, you guys always have the simple solution of banning these guns. You don't want to ban all guns, just the scary looking ones. Keep believing that. If "assault style" weapons were banned, every nut would just use what was still legal. Then you would cry again. "Why do people need to own (insert weapon here). Ban them!" We'd be lucky to own a Ginsu knife if we left our freedoms in your hands.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Just don't take my German made knives away from me. And my machete. You can have my crappy Ginsu knife.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Exactly. Which is why they banned carrying knives in London now. No guns? Get to stabbin'!!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Chopping is good, too!

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Again ATD, why are you feeding into the nonsense?

Do you think if this guy had a knife 12 people would be dead, including a cop?

How many people could the Las Vegas killer killed from his hotel room with a blade? ZERO.

How many people would the latest psycho have killed if he ran into the bar with a van loaded with explosives, used a pressure cooker bomb, fire, sawed off shot gun? Probably close to the same. Las Vegas shooter is not the norm. Smaller targets such as schools and bars are waaaay more likely. And way more options. And taking guns away only makes them go to option B. Because they are CRAZY!

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

It’s a lot harder to procure explosives than guns. Can you tell me the last time a successful attack in the US with explosives was?

sdanielmcev --- 6 years ago -

55 ck Krupp steel? Bad azz blades!

Explosives are easy to make. I can go to Kroger's and make napalm. OK city bomber used fertilizer. Underost kitchen sinks have enough explosive material to blow up a city block.

Boston marathon

Some of yall are just plain stupid.
I dont care who owns guns. I do not favor any weapon that can fire multiple shots in a matter of seconds. As to the most recent shooter that legally bought a weapon...I have no reason to believe any gun laws need to change with the exception of a valid wrongfull injury / death insurance policy.

Its not legal to purchase an automatic weapons without an FFL.

^^^^ Just plain stupid

Sharticus --- 6 years ago -

I think we should ban pipe too. You know since the recent pipe bomb mailing incidents. Can't have any dangerous pipe in the hands of our citizens. Government! Please give us pipe control laws.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Mark, what do insurance companies have to do with gun safety? We have homeowners insurance if someone gets hurt on our property- that doesn't include shooting up your family-

Not KU --- 6 years ago -

Mark, what do insurance companies have to do with gun safety?

Carefully read what I posted. It's really self-explanatory. Nothing abstract about it.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

Right- All mentally ill people who get their hands on any kind of weapon, will control their impulses if they have to buy shoot'em'up insurance.

Not KU --- 6 years ago -

Smash em up insurance works for cars. Glad you were able to connect the dots.

I'll be at Bubba's on Washington Ave tonight if anyone needs me.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 years ago -

That's why there aren't any more drunk drivers killing people! Because they're afraid of their insurance!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

Mark, are you seriously saying every person who owns a gun should be made to have an insurance policy in the event they go postal and kill a bunch of people?

That is what you call ridiculous.

What happens to people who steal weapons and/or obtain them illegally, which is usually the case?? How do we get them to make their insurance premium payments? What about minors who take parents guns? Who pays then?? What about the mentally ill?

LOL

SoupIsGoodFood --- 6 years ago -

Sparky never lets us down. LOL!!!

KwMillennial --- 6 years ago -

Mark,

This is a good point you made:
“It took the military 90 days to take a person from a civilian to a soldier. I think they should invest that kind of time to return them back to civilian.”

But this one:
“I have no reason to believe any gun laws need to change with the exception of a valid wrongfull injury / death insurance policy”
WTH man. You’re going to have to talk through it. It is not self explanatory . Are you trying to say there is a problem with current wrongful injury or death policies? Or are you trying to say that requiring gun owners to have these policies will prevent mass killings?

KwMillennial --- 6 years ago -

“Smash em up insurance works for cars. Glad you were able to connect the dots.”

What? Insurance prevents car accidents?

Insurance just lets some people get paid when an accident happens.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

Mark isn't going to answer. It appears he's in the cooler.

At any rate, the whole issue about trying to insure mass shooters is ridiculous.
