Comey openly states that he met with Trump, documented the meeting on a government computer, passed the information on to the media, and wrote a book about what he did.

The law CLEARLY states that a government employee passing on information he got through his government position to others faces 10 years in jail.

Pay close attention to the legal section describing what Comey did:

.........property made or being made under contract for the United States or any department or agency thereof

In short, he used his position to dig up something on Trump that he felt would make Trump look bad. He passed this information on to friends in the media, and then wrote a book about what he did.

Not much more to say, other than will the DOJ wimp out let him get away with it.

Sorry, here is the link to the Law Review.

The Law Comey Broke - From Law Document

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

The reason we have laws like this is to prevent someone from going to work for the FBI and CIA and using their position to gather and pass on information to others (Remember, Comey could have been working for the Russians).

Comey openly admits he did something illegal.

Again, it's not complicated.

Lordy, I hope there are tapes.

roer de pot --- 6 years ago -

lol once again, you guys prove you are utterly clueless about laws and how this all works.

1. Comey wasn't acting as trump's attorney, so there was no attorney-client privilege

2. The memos don't constitute a "leak" because there was not classified information and he was a private citizen when it occurred

3. Sharing of the memo was not illegal, as national security was not at risk

Comey protected himself, and right-wing hystericals and the trump administration are pretty butt-hurt about that.

Actual experts in national security, DOJ spokesman, the ACLU (yeah, yeah, yeah they are "liberal!") all agree that nothing Comey did was illegal.

So simmer down, boys. You are getting worked up about absolutely NOTHING.

^^^^^^^^
All not true!! You need to read the gov't regulations again. Your so called experts are wrong.

It has nothing to do with attorney client privilege. I don't know where that came from. What you learn and do on gov't time belongs to the gov't and you need permission to disseminate it. Which Comey did not get....

Lordy, I hope there are tapes.

Me too.

Exactly!! The law merely says FBI agents cannot pass on information obtained during FBI duties to outside people or organizations.

It's not rocket science.

Your so called experts are wrong.

So all of the experts, as you call them, are wrong, but some "OrdinaryGuy" on the internet is correct?

Excuse me while I go into fits of hysterical laughter.

Carry on, champ.
