Diane Feinstein is on the way out because she is viewed as too moderate. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-avowed socialist with a radical agenda has been voted in by Democrats.

It is possible the country has changed and the Democrats, if elected, will probably dump capitalism.

This New York Times editorial seems to say the Democratic Party is in for a major fall, because the country is not ready for socialism. And, it may never be ready for socialism.

Old man yells at cloud?

I think fuzzball has finally lost it. Somebody call the men in white because he needs help.

Please...explain this "radical" agenda.

Fantastic. Capitalism without constraints doesn't work.

Ah, the good old editorial/opinion section!

I think fuzzball has finally lost it. Somebody call the men in white because he needs help.

Prolix Raconteur --- 6 years ago -

Please...explain this "radical" agenda.

Elimination of customs and immigration enforcement.

Free College tuition (with no means to pay for it)

Basic income for all citizens (with no means to pay for it)

Occupation of all ICE offices nationwide.

State takeover of various industries.

Various other sundry utopian BS with no means to pay for it.

Stuff I'm sure you think is so edgy and progressive.

One word. VENEZUALA

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

Please...explain this "radical" agenda.

Happy to Explain!!

My high school government teacher drew a horizontal line on the chalkboard and started on the right. He made a dot and below it wrote reactionary. He said the reactionaries want to go back to the way things use to be.

He moved a little toward the center and wrote conservatives. He said the conservatives want to stop or slow changes.

In the middle he wrote moderate. He said moderates are willing to make some changes. But not extreme changes.

He kept going toward the left and wrote liberals. He said liberals want change (You can still find a few Democrats in this category)..

He kept going and wrote radical. He said radicals want to change everything radically (Like many of the Democrats today). Prolix Reconteur (above) does a good job of explaining what has come up in the Democratic Party.

These changes (if accepted by the country) would bring radical change to the United States. We would become a much different country.

Still waiting on kswood to respond.

Capitalism without constraints doesn't work.

The market is the constraint of capitalism when allowed unfettered access to all. The problem with liberalism is that it applies unnecessary constraints to the markets.

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

The problem with liberalism is that it applies unnecessary constraints to the markets.?

That's a good point.

If somebody makes a bad product, the government (under liberalism) wants to step in and regulate the good and bad producers. Under capitalism (the conservatives) say to merely stop buying the bad product.

Liberals want government to run everything.

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
So true and the liberals want to control the gov't.

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

Wonder how far left the Democratic Party can go?

The first sitting senator (Gilldibrand, Democrat) is calling for dissolving ICE, the agency responsible for enforcing immigration laws. Yes, open borders may be coming.

Democratic New York Mayor de Blasio has also endorsed the idea. It's not just the Democrat candidates for office. It's becoming mainstream for the Democratic Party.

At one time it was a radical idea, like socialism.

The Democratic Party goal is to remake the United States in the image of Cuba and Venezuela.

Pretty strange idea!!

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

It is strange but I'll bet most of the US does not want socialism.

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

I hope you are correct.

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

LostWorld --- 6 years ago -

The US is already way too socialist as it is. Mr Trump should work to privatize every socialist program in this country. If it can be done then it can be done for profit.

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

The US is already way too socialist as it is.

I am conservative, but believe in some regulation. If a company finds a pill that cures cancer, should the company be able to charge a million dollars for the pill?

LostWorld --- 6 years ago -

We all hope that whoever finds the cure would make it available to whoever needs it based on human decency, but should they be forced to?

Another Democratic Party member has come out as a socialist. It seems to be sweeping the country.

What do you know about Italian Fascists, and how does that relate to the Republican Party?

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

Republicans are soviet marxists?

It's entertaining reading something like this, but obviously off the mark.

Just curious, is this a troll statement, or do you guys think this guy really believes what he posted?

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

or rather.....he or she posted?

Sorry!!

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Yet you seem to believe democrats are socialists. Who?s the troll?

Meanwhile, trump cozies up to putin who wants to rebuild the USSR, and the trumpflakes cheer him on.

fuzz81 --- 6 years ago -

Until republicans en mass denounce the shameful actions of trump, you?re complicit.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 6 years ago -

Its pretty clear that they have no idea what they are talking about. Seems to me the left embraces more of the bourgeois oppression theory.

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

Yet you seem to believe democrats are socialists.

The difference is that the democrats say they are socialists and announce that to the world. It's real easy to call them socialist when they say they are. Your opinions of the Republicans are just that opinions. BTW...Pres Trump has been harder on the Russians than the last 2 or 3 Presidents which, I know, doesn't fit in your dialogue so you conveniently forget it.

RayofHope --- 6 years ago -

Yet you seem to believe democrats are socialists. Who?s the troll?

I do not necessarily consider the label socialist inherently bad. I said it is a political philosophy that has not worked.

Compare socialism principles (I posted an earlier link to an article) and you will see the Democratic Party is beginning to espouse socialist beliefs (I.E., free education, free healthcare, lots of free stuff.....without explaining how it will be paid for).

Your other statement: Republicans are Soviet Marxists, is confusing (I.E.,Republicans and Soviet Marxists would seem to be an oxymoron)......... at face value this would seem to be troll banter.

I don't agree with Saturn that Republicans are Italian Fascists, but it make more sense.

Saturn --- 6 years ago -

I don't agree with Saturn that Republicans are Italian Fascists, but it make more sense.

RoH, I never said that Republicans are Italian Fascists ... that was LostWorld.

LostWorld --- 6 years ago -

I didn?t say they were, I said they resemble fascists more than they resemble soviet marxists.

roer de pot --- 6 years ago -

The difference is that the democrats say they are socialists and announce that to the world.

But...they don't.

What are you talking about?

Democratic socialists aren't the same as socialists, and democratic socialism works in many countries that see a better quality of life than Americans.

Why do you not want all Americans to have a strong quality of life?

OrdinaryGuy --- 6 years ago -

But...they don't.

What are you talking about?

I guess you haven't been listening to Bernie Sanders or that young lady who just won a primary.

I guess socialized medicine works so good in Canada that they come to the US to be treated.

Democratic socialists aren't the same as socialists

A rose by any other name is still a rose. A socialist is still a socialist no matter what adjectives they put in front of the word.
