Oil pipelines across the country are a "going thing". How about WATER PIPELINES in appropriate places to divert excess river water (like San Jacinto River)to some of the hundred of miles of Texas desert areas (Big Bend) where lakes could be built by damming up canyons. I believe something like this was done in Nevada, and playa lakes were created in the desert to hold excess water. It seems like this could be a win-win solution. We cannot feed people with oil, but water diverted to desert areas can grow crops/food.
