Has anyone ever lived or visited Wisconsin. We are moving there in just a few weeks. Totally stoked! Can you inform me about the weather? Anything else we should be looking for?

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Google is your friend.

You'll need cold weather clothing.

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

I have a friend that grew up there. When she describes it she just repeats, "It was so cold, just so cold". She loves Texas; but the rest of her family stayed there so it can't be too bad. Good luck to you :)

June - August No place better.
Sept - October Nice crisp fall weather
November-May Winter, very long, especially when it gets to May and you get another snow storm.

Not humid, locals feel that 85 degree day it really hot.

I lived around the Great Lakes area for 35 years. Just like everywhere, it's what you make of it.

I lived in Prairie du Chien, which is 50 miles south of La Crosse on the Mississippi River, from 1966 to 1968 when I entered the service. I returned in 72' after being separated / discharged and lived there until, roughly, 76'.

Wisconsin has all four seasons and, depending where you live, the winters can be brutal. My sister and her family live in Eau Claire, but the winters are too cold there for me.

What part of Wisconsin are you relocating too?

Sparta/Tomah area

Saturn --- 8 years ago -

That's a very nice area and I think you'll like it there, especially if you enjoy the outdoors.

One of my high school classmates from Prairie, is retired and lives in Sparta.

Good luck to you and your family ...

I visited a friend in Madison, to see a Badger football game. Great town, people are super nice.

He posts pictures in the winter time and no way would I want to live there. It's so cold people Ice fish there, instead of golf carts they have snow mobiles. And if you need a state with diversity, Wisconsin ain't it. It must be 99% white - not that there is anything wrong with that.

Good people. Most of the culture there is in the yogurt.

And cheese, Wisconsinites love their cheese!

Yeah I think we are only a couple hours from Green Bay.

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

I went to Green Bay WI once. It was a beautiful sunny cold day that suddenly and quickly turned into a blizzard night. It was scary on the roads!

Someone else on here is moving to Wisconsin. Someone with a dog training business if I recall. Maybe you and she can exchange notes on Wisconsin.

I don't have any animals.

I had a business trip to Wisconsin in March. It was cold, overcast and downright dreary. Snow would have made it prettier but unfortunately it was just drizzly and somewhat depressing. I am sure they have beautiful summers there, I just couldn't deal with the long winters.

sdanielmcev --- 8 years ago -

I spent the winter of '75 -'76 in Duluth/Superior. Coldest winter ever. But summer is great there.

No but we visited Montana a few months ago, for my husbands interviews, and it was beautiful.. It was in the 40s & 50s but perfect. The air is dry so it's not a wet cold like down here. We were planning on moving to Montana, since my husband was told that he had the most experience and most likely to get the job, being a Houston Firefighter.. But the fire station in Montana started having financial problems, so they told us they put the job on "freeze". So even if they call us back, we aren't going to take it..We weren't moving for the money, it would have been a pay cut, but we don't want to put ourselves in a bad situation. So we are staying in Kingwood for now :) Maybe one day.. Montana was so nice.. The people were very friendly and the air was so fresh. The drive up there was long, but worth the experience. I'm sure we will go back for vacation :)
