POLL: Once was taboo & now not so much

What are your thoughts of woman with tattoos? Even just 10 years ago it was very taboo for women to have tattoos. Now it seems that lots of women have them. I don't have any but I'm thinking of getting one. I'm interested to hear what others, especially men have to say about seeing women with tattoos. I'm not sure exactly what I want. I was thinking of my kids names and birthdays.

Like tattoos on anybody, the artwork and placement are critical. An artful floral tattoo on a woman can be attractive, for instance, whereas "Baby" or "Precious" written in cursive on your neck is the proverbial scarlet letter. You're marked trash for life. And never, ever, get a tattoo on your face. Nothing says STUPID like that.

I agree with you. I would never get one on my face or neck.

Have you seen where people have gotten ink put into someone's whites of their eyes? It's so odd looking. They take a syringe of ink and place it in the whites of their eyes. I've seen brown done mostly. But one girl I saw a very light crystal blue done. When I see this I never know where to look at them.

DVaz --- 8 years ago -

It depends on the woman. A "Metal" chick with tats can be sexy as hell! Not so much on someone who's obese.

eyeball ink

Not so much on someone who's obese.?

So you have a thing against fat girls/women and tattoos? ??

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

eyeball ink?
that looks painful

Butterbean --- 8 years ago -

Not an issue for me.

I don't find them particularly attractive, but what someone does with their body is their business.

I am Groot --- 8 years ago -

I think you have two types of people in the world of tattoos. Some people who don't have tattoos look at people who have them and automatically think they are some kind of deviant and then you have those that have them and are automatically accepted by those who have them also. I guess it all depends on who you are around. I like them and have no issues with those who have them. I consider it artwork and our skin is a canvas.

I've been to some churches that feel that our bodies are a temple and should not be tattooed and then I've been to some churches where the Pastor himself/herself has them. Interesting.

What about body piercings? Nose, tongue, lips, eyebrow, navel? Any thoughts on that?

Do you think there is a cut off point in age? Say after the age of 30-40 you should not have tattoos or piercings?

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

Not too fond of seeing body piercings; but I have noticed some young folk do it well,,meaning it actually looks attractive.

I think any age that doesn't wrinkle and warp the tattoo is passable; but that doesn't last :)

I'm going to get one that says LIARS SUCK

I am Groot --- 8 years ago -

Make sure you get "LIARS SUCK" on your forehead.

You guys should see my sweet "Kingwood Underground" tat.

TXbluebird --- 8 years ago -

I hate to see young people with large, expensive tattoos, not because I disapprove, but because I don't think they will be happy with them when they are older. I know I get tired of things and would not want such a permanent decoration on my body. I doubt I would still like it in five years. I know an older man who had a hot, young, bare chested lady on his arms. Over the years she became wrinkled and saggy! He also had to wear long sleeved shirts when he ushered at church.

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

I heard on the radio the other day some business was offering free tattoo removal for people who regretted them and were trying to clean up their arms, face, and neck for job purposes.

I can't for the life of me remember who was doing that.

sheddy --- 8 years ago -

I think it looks trashy, but some people have beautiful designs. I think what looks horrible is a person who has them everywhere and it looks like they just went in and said, "here's an empty place, put that here." No rhyme or reason. Usually the first thing I think is, who in the world is going to hire that person. As I have said before, it comes from growing up when I did. No one had tattoos except men who had been in the navy or trash.

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

"Tattoos indicate the person has a social disorder of some type; someone who is maladjusted".

A physician told me this after he saw a friend of mine with a tattoo on his arm. Though the good doc didn't tell me in front of the guy...LOL.

No, it wasn't.

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

No, it wasn't.?

You know it might have been where they lived. Small towns have a tendancy to be behind the trends.

There is this tiny town south of San Antonio called Poteet and the last time I passed through there some of the ladies were wearing that hair poof in the front and the long in the back. I guess it's the female version of the mullet.

I am Groot --- 8 years ago -

No, it wasn't.

I took a guess. If you think I'm wrong then why don't you expand on your comment instead of becoming what your screen name is. Lol

jackass --- 8 years ago -

OOOh a troll...lol

Ok, I'll expand...

No, it wasn't, unless you were under a rock somewhere.

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

That would be that whole little town of Poteet...LOL

but their strawberries were awesome

How about educating me instead of insulting me? Are you capable of that? There are small town USA that still find it taboo over big city USA.

dkeller --- 8 years ago -

Don't get upset Curious&Honest. I like this thread; it's fun and interesting yet still is generating some hearty, varying viewpoints. I think it was a great idea.

Jackass, I have discovered, is like a pickle. He's kind of vinegary but what is a cheeseburger (forum) without a dill pickle.

jackass --- 8 years ago -

His first reaction when I said no it wasnt was to insult me...now he's annoyed because I jabbed back...lol

Behold the pale horse --- 8 years ago -

They're trashy and make anyone look cheap.

Karras --- 8 years ago -

Not a fan of tattoos on women. It's trashy. As for piercing, pierced ears only.

And I tend to see more obese women with tats than regular sized women. And it just makes them look worse.

I saw a fat lady the other day with little wing tattoos on her back and a neck tattoo. If you are going to get at tat, at least use some color. The one color (green), is horrible. Might as well have taken a bic pen to your skin and saved some money.

I hear ya, jack. It happens quite often. Some cupcake will attempt an insult and when their target responds in kind, then suddenly that person is a bully.

I'm not upset at all w/ you or anyone else. I consider it playful banter. It takes a whole lot more then what you've said to raffle my cage.

I called someone "princess" yesterday and the poor sensitive soul said I was "verbally abusive".

He acted like I shot his dog.

I find as I age and my skin sags and wrinkles, Tattoo's are the way to go. However. Its not for everyone. Gender not applicable.

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

I wish I could chose two choices. I think it looks trashy but I don't have an issue with it. You can look whatever way you please. What I feel is none of their business. Go for it. The REAL question is, "Why is okay for men to get them and not be questioned. And do they look trashy too?"

About 15 years ago we were in Minn./Mall of the America for Spring Break. Using the indoor pool at the hotel with the kids, every woman and I mean EVERY woman except me had a Tramp Stamp or tattoo somewhere on their body. Yes, I felt a little white and naked.

Very good question. I'd like to know the answer myself.
