Does anyone know why the train is stopped on the tracks at Hamblen?

queenofclean --- 8 years ago -

I have no idea but it must still be stopped because everyone is cutting through Forest Cove and traffic is a nightmare.

FANCY PANTS --- 8 years ago -

I hope no one was on the tracks again.

I read derailment

Oh no! I hope that everyone is okay.

Copied this from another site. Stay away from 494 and Hamblen.

Hamblen Rd will be closed for a while at the train tracks. A small piece of the track came off and caused a train to derail.

There were no injuries reported.

A few people on Facebook reported that the bridge had collapsed, but that is not accurate. It is still intact.

Union Pacific Railroad Police are investigating, and HPD is diverting traffic away from the area.

Please avoid the area, and use Kingwood Dr or Northpark to enter/exit Kingwood.

Train comes apart on San Jacinto River span

By Dug Begley
Union Pacific Railroad is examining its bridge across the San Jacinto River in Humble after a low spot discovered in the span allowed two traincars en route to Houston to uncouple.

?As they hit the dip, they somewhat separated from the train,? Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff said.

The incident happened around 2:30 Thursday. No injuries were reported, the bridge is still standing and none of the 73 train cars being pulled by the locomotive derailed, according to early reports. The office of Houston Councilman Dave Martin told residents via Facebook that Hamblen Road, north of the river, was closed so train crews could remove the remaining cars and assess the area.

DeGraff said once the train is out of the way, crews will have to carefully study the bridge and make the necessary repairs.
