When you are summoned to jury duty here at 1400 Lubbock, what kind of trial could you expect to hear? Criminal or Civil? Been so long I don't recall.

I have been called and I am very excited. I hope I get sequestered.

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -

I think it should say on your summons which court it is for??? At least it was on the ones I've received - all of mine were for District Court and that amounts to "whatever" it is but usually civil.

Joe Blow --- 8 years ago -

Either/Or. Today all courts pull from the same jury pool.

RedMulch --- 8 years ago -

It only says Houston Municipal. It does ask if I have ever served on a civil or a criminal case. I served on a criminal case when I lived in Atlanta and a civil case here in Houston. I was summoned once down in prec 3, which got flood cancelled.

It'll be traffic court only

RedMulch --- 8 years ago -

why do they need jury in traffic court?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 8 years ago -

If its a BIG case, you can write a book!! LOL

I had to go there once for speeding on the feeder road near Northpark. One thing I noticed was that every Mexican who was there for no insurance (one who caused an accident) spoke no English and their case was immediately dismissed.

"why do they need jury in traffic court? "

Because you are allowed trial by jury for traffic cases in Texas

napoleon --- 8 years ago -

The majority of the trials are for traffic violations but there could be other types of cases I.e. failure to register your dog, smoking in a nonsmoking establishment, etc. Make sure you follow the dress code - I was there last summer and they sent people home for not being dressed properly and gave them a jury summons to come back on another day. I saw several other KW people in the jury assembly room the day I went.

Barnstormer --- 8 years ago -

If you park in their free jury parking, make sure you have the right place. If you park in a privately owned lot, you get towed. The jury slip won't help in that case.
