Ate there the other day. Price is fair. Food was great. Owner came by the table (Dang Yankee Fan) introduced himself. Will go back. (Go RED SOX).

What type fare? Can you get a burger or a taco?

Food was great.

I'm glad someone is pimping this joint. The other attempts at a restaurant there prolly failed due to the chronic attacks from the nobodies here.

Go Tularosa! I hope you succeed.

Doesn't sound inspiring. When can we get a good steak house or Seafood place?

I'm in for that also. Bring it on.

I'm game! I love the Mexican food of New Mexico and Arizona! Flat Enchiladas we called Encha Pie!! Yum!

Matalli --- 9 years ago -

If someone opened a restaurant selling good quality beef and seafood, people would complain about the price. Few in Kingwood want to pay for quality food.

Since the owner has great taste in baseball teams, I might give it a try!

Our dinner was AMAZING! LOVED IT!

I ate there today. pretty good. good chicken fried steak and fries and Texas
toast. They duped me into some queso and chips. I thought they were offering me a sample. Turns out they charged $6 for that sample. I did not whine cause it was good.

One couple got up and walked out because they thought they were gonna get tex mex. It is not quite the same, but it is very good.

Steak? the new Ricos offers ribeyes.

And my daughter says they have the best shrimp cocktail ever.

Mexican food from New Mexico is definitely not Tex Mex. It's different and good. I hope they eventually serve Arizona-style Chimichangas. They ones I have had in Texas don't do the originals justice. I didn't think this place said anywhere they were TexMex. Thank God! We have enough of those! Good reviews! I can't wait to go! ETA $6 is the going price for Queso . Was it Queso Blanco or Velveeta?? With Hatch Chiles perhaps??

LOVED THIS!!! Plenty of real white cheese in my yummy large HATCH Chili Relleno. Rice and beans with spices to DIE for. DH's fajita beef looked amazing, thick medium rare pieces served with homemade tortillas. And a grilled, whole, fresh jalapeno?! EPIC! Chips and fresh salsa is some of the best and served at the table FREE at happy hour. Some of the freshest salsa I have had around here. This is NOT Tex Mex, Folks. This is truly Southwest (Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas) flavor. Just to mention, Hatch chilies are limited to the season. Get to those on the Specials quickly before it's gone.

I agree! The food is not typical and I'm never disappointed. I hear they are working on making the bar area a gathering place with a special menu and local beer. My favorite: stop in for lunch for a ceviche and pablano soup!

Their food is typical but just not for this area/Texas. The recipes come from New Mexico, and pretty authentic, from what I can tell so far. I plan on returning and soon so I can enjoy some short-lived Hatch chiles from New Mexico. I hope it makes it. I want to try their stacked enchiladas. I haven't had that in years.

I lived in the Southwest for a time and enjoyed that style of food so much. The first time I ate Tex Mex was in Humble. I thought they brought the wrong order, a plate of chili. The waitress asked, "What did you order?" "Enchiladas." "They're under there." hahaha Never returned to Monterrey House and was always careful to find out what style of enchiladas I was ordering.

Quest needs to be larger; not enough for the price. Chips are thick; thin chips are better. A tad overpriced for what you get. Hope it makes it.

Finally made our way there this weekend. Was not disappointed at all. Authentic New Mexico style food (great enchiladas!); tasty and good portions. Cilantro margarita was pretty good, as was the cucumber/jalapeno margarita my wife ordered. Slightly more pricey than average tex-mex places around town, but well worth a few extra bucks. We'll be back. Hopefully it's catching on; that location seems cursed.

I'm glad to hear it. I hope they're successful.
