Trying to get to back of Kingwood. Can anyone please update on flooded roads? Kingwood Drive? North Park? 1960 to West Lake Houston? Russell Palmer?
Thanks in advance for the help!!

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

We came in from Hamblen Rd/Walnut through Trailwood Villiage and had no trouble. I heard KW dr and Northpark are flooded.

Lynny --- 9 years ago -

Thank you, TinktheSprite!!!

Good luck! Be careful. Will only get worse as traffic slows down. There is a LOT of street flooding The rain is lighter now, but there is lots of thunder and lightening in KW.

I'm so glad I didn't have to go out, today!

Channel 2 just said Kingwood would have rain for 45 more minutes-

Took me two hours to get home from the Cypress area...and I left at 3:00. Be careful out there!

Northpark is passable as of 6pm. But still tough out there.

My barn owner's barn/home is underwater.
6 of the 9 horses were rescued; they had to cut the fence and hope the remaining 3 were able to find higher ground. My daughter's show pony is one of the 3 but they were able to rescue her old (35 year old) pony.
Water is higher than chest deep.

It's heartbreaking and devastating, and nothing we can do.
We are waiting on a boat.

I got caught on Kluge in the area and had to turn around. The area was devastated by the last storm and the water was too deep, even in my truck, to pass.

It's just a mess out there.

Sorry to hear that jams :( Be safe!

The three horses were spotted this morning, 2 on the property and the other on the adjoining property.

Everything else can be replaced, but we lost thousands of dollars worth of tack/training equipment, saddles, hay/feed...not including trucks, trailers, house, barn, etc.

Going to be a busy, exhausting, and long week of cleaning!

Was this the same stables who badly flooded last time and lost many horses. On Cypresswood??

No. Not sure if her place flooded again.

My horses are at a private home/facility.

I remember seeing a few days ago a tent over by San Jac driving down 494 to hamblen road. It had been set up for several days. Yesterday I could see the tent but water almost to the top. Today no tent... Not surprised. Anyone else notice this?

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

I saw a camping set up along the river banks at that park on the river. I drove by it in the mornings. There were cars/trucks with a tent. It had been there for at least 2 weeks. Not there now. Or under water?

needsleep --- 9 years ago -

I couldn't rem how long the tents were there tink, but I am sure you are correct they had been there for sometime. Underwater, pulled with the current and nice a tangled mess by now.

The roads on
Kings River are flooded. We were high and dry until they opened the gates. This is Sunday morning. It looks like a lake.

What roads in Kings River? I heard about the WLH bridge closure, but are you talking about actual streets within that community?

victylermom --- 9 years ago -

Right now, I can only speak about the apartments on WLH. We are flooded over here, Magnolia Cove. There are no cars at all on WLH.

Puss In Boots --- 9 years ago -

Anyone got pictures? I can't wrap my head around the water levels being discussed.

Smokey545 --- 9 years ago -

Are the restaurants like Sharkey's accessible Sunday? Or in danger How far up is Lake Houston Parkway flooded? To the YMCA?

victylermom --- 9 years ago -

Raffa's is closed. All of WLH is flooded including where the Y is.

napoleon --- 9 years ago -

For pictures, there are some on kingwood.com's message board under WLH/Kings Harbor thread.

We walked down to Kings Harbor from Kings River this morning. The water is high and running fast for a lake!

Kingwood Greens is under at least 3' of water. It was flowing across the street and into Kings Harbor. The water in the lake wasn't over the patio areas of those restaurants, but it was rising and was close to level with them at that time. It's surreal to see. I have photos, but no idea how to post them on KU.

You can post the photos on imgur.com without registering an account. The metadata is stripped out so there's no concern there.

If you've never heard of imgur.com, it's used heavily by Reddit.
