And now my left leg hurts a lot, more than what would be expected of a minor cut. Some kind of contamination from my dog?

CavemanBarney --- 9 years ago -

Should never have let that happen, will now have to have leg amputated. :(

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

my dogs always lick my cuts, and it heals them right up!

OMG Get to the Dr. fast.. could be mersa (or however you spell it) and that is no joke. Good luck to you

napoleon --- 9 years ago -

Go to the doctor. He might put you on antibiotics like they usually do for dog bite patients because of the dirt and crud dogs put in their mouth.

Porter Wagoner (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Did he lick his butt before or after he licked your cut?

birdfeeder --- 9 years ago -

You should probably go to the doctor to have it checked. And I wouldn't wait too long.
A similar thing happened to my teenage nephew with a cut on his hand. He waited for 2 days when it became horribly painful and inflamed before going to the dr.
Then spent 3 days in the hospital on intravenous antibiotics.
Dogs and cats are very nice......
their saliva, not so much.

I suspect it's prolly that just discovered totally antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Good luck with that.

Actually, most dogs mouths are much cleaner than any human. In the meantime, did your leg fall off?

It feels a little better, although still tingly and weird.

I have been dunking my foot in apple cider vinegar and that seems to help, although it stings.

I may check into urgent care in a day or two.

Your point about dog's mouth being much cleaner is not true.

What was the original cut from?

idontplaynice --- 9 years ago -

What was the original cut from??

My skin rubbed raw from a new shoe. That's it.

Very minor, but since the dog licked it, it got more serious - red and swollen, with the scab looking pretty ugly.

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Sounds minor to begin with. Have you been using an antibiotic ointment/cream. Please keep it covered and away from your dog.

Clean dog mouth, seen them eat poop and lick butts. Clean? NO! lol actually not sure but not wanting to find out!

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Dogs have bad breath, and often bad teeth. Dogs eat and lick a lot of things I wouldn't want near my mouth. Yes, they can lick certain bacteria in bad water and not get sick. They can also get snake bites and not die from it. But a dog's mouth is far from clean enough to lick a wound clean.
