I'd like to get some opinions on gyms in the area. Good or bad!

TXbluebird --- 9 years ago -

I like Lifetime Fitness. If you are looking for programs for kids, the Y might be better.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Hey Waterfall!
Good to see you posting! More real people and less trolls! Lol

Im a member at the Y. I like it. Lots of exercise classes for adults and gym availability. There is lots of kid activities too. If you want I can get you a guest pass. The only perceived negativity is the Y isnt as aesthetically pleasing or updated as LF, and its no cheaper either. They did renovate the Y but its still just plain older looking.

Butterbean --- 9 years ago -

I've been a Lifetime Fitness member for some time. I like it; they seem to have a lot of classes and individual stuff to offer and they seem to maintain the equipment pretty well.

I'm there 3 times a week average.

Good to see you posting!

Awww, someone missed me. Lol!

I want to avoid the Y. I'm not interested in dealing with kids or fighting the parking hassles when there are games going on. But I appreciate your offer!

Do you know anything about Gold's?

Winning --- 9 years ago -

Screw the gym. Eat more Cheetos.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

Even tho it gets busy at times, ive never had a problem parking. But it is a kid friendly place. Ive never been to Gold's, but a lot of the instructors teach at all the local gyms. What type of activities are your target?

esquala --- 9 years ago -

Hiya waterfall! No gym rec's (I do planks and other bodyweight stuff in front of my laptop watching netflix), just wanted to say it's nice to see you.

I'm never here either, but I'm here more than you! LOL.

I am a member of Golds Gym and I go 4-6 days a week. Their group GX instructors are wonderful--I participate in RPM, Studio Cycle, Bodypump, Body Combat and Bodyflow. Cost is very low (under $25 a month). These instructors keep me challenging myself and coming back every week.

"Y" is free if you have Silver Sneakers...

Look into Kingwood Strength Conditioning next to Omni Yoga. This place is different because it has professional strength coaches.

KSC - Starting Strength Gym

Do you know anything about Gold's??

It's extremely busy. What exactly are you looking for in a gym?

Rubicon --- 9 years ago -

I'm a member at the Y and it's okay, I guess. It's on my route to drop off DD so I'm able to go there easily and go there more often than I did the other gyms I've been a member of. My biggest beef with that gym is that it stinks. The whole place needs to be sanitized BIG TIME!!

I used to be a member of LifeTime but it was too far out of the way for me. I miss that place.

Gold's is full of douchebags.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

I like the Y- they have great classes, and the weight room always has room- most clubs have people on all the equipment, and you have to wait-

waterfall --- 9 years ago -

Thanks everyone!

I'm still not going to the Y though. :)

Gold's is full of douchebags.?

LOL! Good to know!

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

HA!

WatchOut --- 9 years ago -

We use the Y religioiusly.

Butterbean --- 9 years ago -

religioiusly

How do you do that? :-)

them --- 9 years ago -

There's always the Kingwood Country Club. Nice gym and pool area.

The adult pool is a lot of fun during the summer.

InHisGrace --- 9 years ago -

I'm a member at Gold's and I like it for the price other than it does get pretty packed at times. DoucheBags... LOL Yeah they have some but I also like the fact that you get to know the people around you bc it has the same dedicated people in and out of there all the time. It's definitely more of a social crowd than a lot of the other gyms i've been too but never had any problems there. If I was single it would be the place to go. LOl I'm not but my husband and I have met some friends there and we like it.

kgarciaPC --- 9 years ago -

It depends on what you want--my husband is a serious gym enthusiast/weight lifter, and he goes to Monster Gym because it doesn't have all of the "crap" as he puts it that comes along with chain fitness gyms and clubs.
I am not like that at all. I have tried Planet Fitness in the past (you can't beat that $10 deal), but found that I really didn't like it and the whole idea of no intimidation actually made the place intimidating for me. I have toured Gold's Gym and considered signing up but felt like the majority of that was "douchebag" guys and that did not make me comfortable either.
I have been a member of Snap Fitness before in the past and loved it. It was not at the Kingwood location, but I found it usually was not crowded and it was a good gym for the money.
