Info is on kingwood.com

Here's the list.

Very disappointed. A lot of crappy, unhealthy food. More haircuts, more nails, more beauty. Seems crazy when there are stores in Randall's and Current HEB center that are empty.

How about a Bath and Body Works? Pier One? Books A Million? Craft/Knit shop? Breakfast diner?

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Ughhh. That's a disappointing list! Junk! What happened to World Market and are we ever getting a Trader Joe's or Sprouts? Of course not in the HEB shopping center. Sigh I'm truly disappointed!

SleightOfHand --- 9 years ago -

Torchy's Tacos are great!

DVaz --- 9 years ago -

What happened to Kingwood Parc Center inbetween 494 & 59? Another bust?!

lisapisabobisa --- 9 years ago -

WHAT? Ridiculous. A bunch of crappy places we already have that I don't use. Torchy's is the only place I will be a patron of - their food is fabulous. Everything else...meh. How sad.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Wells Fargo will be shutting down their small bank in the Randalls parking lot, and inside the Randalls, and building a bank in that parking lot.

FANCY PANTS --- 9 years ago -

WOW! Did you see that map? Will that really be enough parking for HEB? The parking lot is what I hate about the current HEB.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

RAISING CANES???!!! I don't even like chicken and I love this place.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

I'm still waiting for something to go in to the old Sears bldg! It's big enough for a Whole Foods!

DVaz --- 9 years ago -

I want to know how big this HEB will be. Is it going to be as enormous as the new Kroger's?

FANCY PANTS --- 9 years ago -

Is it going to be as enormous as the new Kroger's??

I hope so!

KINGWOOD CENTER
Main Street Kingwood land plan.
Houston developer Lovett Commercial released architectural and landscape renderings Monday for 33 acres in Kingwood where the company is planning a 240,000-square-foot shopping center anchored by an H-E-B.
The new development at the northeast corner of West Lake Houston Parkway and Kingwood Drive, in the 14,000-acre planned community in northeast Houston, will be called Main Street Kingwood. It will include a 45,000-square-foot Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center. The grocer will have a gas station and car wash.

?We are excited to build Kingwoodʼs next great shopping center in the heart of the community, helping to redefine one of the most prominent intersections in the area,? Burdette Huffman, vice president of development for Lovett Commercial, said in a statement. ?Main Street Kingwood will meet increasing demand as the area continues to grow and prosper.?

The developer said it will preserve most of the mature trees in the 50-foot landscape setback and add more than 125 new trees. The area?s Kings Crossing Community Association moved 17 mature trees from the site and will be relocating most of them to street medians.

Site work is expected to begin within the next few weeks, and completion of the center is scheduled for the fall of next year.

It is absolutely disgusting how they cleared that land only to give us more of the same old same old stores. :(

I think it will look nice. They have a 50 foot set back and are adding 125 new trees. I wonder if Kings Crossing has already moved the 17 trees they are supposed to move. I saw this being done a few years back. It is very interesting to watch and must cost a small fortune.

Torchy's!!!!!! It's awesome

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Yes, Torchy's is great. Been there. Got the T Shirt. But it is still fast food and yet another Mexican food place. Can Kingwood escape the Fast Food attraction? Why not a good seafood place?? Or Indian cuisine?

El Pollo Loco
Whataburger
Raising Cane?s
Verts Kebap
Torchy?s Tacos
Potbelly (Sandwiches)
Starbucks
Mama Fu?s (Asian)
Pie Five Pizza Co.

Raising Cane's, I'm gonna get fat.

marthas attic (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

They removed the beautiful pond area which could have been an asset to the area to replace it with concrete and a crap shopping strip. It would have been nice to see some decent places to eat, where people could look out onto the water, nice stores around the water area where people could stroll and enjoy trees, water and decent shopping. But we got what we always get, more nail places, cleaners and fast food. A mattress place?? Really? As if the one in the front of Kingwood is in such demand. Very sad

mutton --- 9 years ago -

KU is most definitely not the same as originally loved.

3rd generation hippie --- 9 years ago -

I agree, Martha! If they left in the water feature that would've taken away from their retail place which means their profits. It's all about the almighty dollar today. ;(

steinhoister2016 --- 9 years ago -

Kingwood is poised to become the liveable shopping center...lol

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Totally agree with marthas attic! It's a darn shame what this forest-y city has become from what it once was. From cutting down all the trees, not preserving more of them, for more and more homes, to miles and miles of fast food and shopping strip centers. It's not the Liveable Forest anymore. More like, Liveable Consumerism.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

I got so excited about Raising Canes that I totally overlooked Potbelly. These are great sandwiches and salads. I like "The Wreck".

The Master plan of Kingwood always had these particular sites zoned commercial.

There is more commercial land available on KWD near Sand Creek, and on WLH to name a few.

THEY CLEARED MORE TODAY AND IT LOOKS HORRIFIC!!!!!

Agree on Indian although I don't think it's fair to call Torchy's fast food, for one it is never fast at the locations I know of, secondly it's of a better quality, and the same can be said of VertsKebap (on the quality front at least), kindof in the vain of Chipotle I guess which Kingwood needs IMHO.

I noticed... I wonder what happened to not clearing the 50 foot set back. Maybe their tape measure is broken?

Froggie --- 9 years ago -

Sad I won't be able to watch the new shopping center being built....we are closing on our new house in Tavola next week. This area has needed a facelift for a while, I don't know many of the food establishments going in. I will have to drive back to Kingwood for a year or two until things develop in New Caney.

So those apartments that had been there since forever were never slated to stay there? Really?? I think someone in the Apartment business sold to retail and made bundle of money. It had nothing to do with The Big Plan.

I agree. I also know the original plans I saw not only kept the pond but expanded it and had the eateries overlooking it. I wonder when they pulled the good ole switcheroo.

As for the master plan having that site zoned commercial....well, guess what? Apartments are considered commercial. They are (supposed to be) income producing.

The owner of those dumpy apts that were razed also owns that craphole Kingwood Lakes apts that did such a lovely job of ripping out that underbrush and then didn't bother to landscape it.
