How do you KNOW that's going to be a Costco? Is there a sign that says "coming soon" or something?? 

The woodlands costco has told us and i know a person who works for the city of humble and he's seen the blueprints for it. the rep at the woodlands one said once there's actual work being done like foundation being poured, it's 90 days to open. 

The only new opening on their website for2015 is Pearland. 

According to their website, the only new store coming is in Pearland.

I don't think they do that until permits and such are pulled.

They aren't even cheaper than Walmart. Only good for bulk frozen foods IMO. 

I am excited for Pearland. I heard about this from the attendant from Sams gas station a few weeks ago. I go through Pearland all the time on the way to the beach so it is as good as Humble for me. I went to the one on Greens Rd Friday. i am not sure I can afford one in Humble. 

What's the difference between Costco and Sam's? And I'm not talking about employee benefits or pay. I mean food and item selection. 

They only put Costco in nice neighborhoods like The Woodlands, Katy, River Oaks, Sugarland, Pearland. Best wholesaler Humble and Porter can get is Sams. You have a Costco in The Woodlands - closest they will get to this area.

Costco would be successful here. Sam's draws a certain type of crowd where it is located. Sam's will lose.

Following a special meeting at Humble City Hall on Friday, the City Council unanimously approved of a resolution for infrastructure development and reimbursement agreements with Costco Wholesale Corporation and Headway Estates, LTD.

The resolution furthers the steps the city needs in order to begin construction on the new Costco location and Townsen Landing Village on the northwest side of Townsen Blvd. and U.S. Highway 59, across the street from Target.

?It?s a contract that allows the developer, Costco, and us in essence to do our work,? said City Manager Darrell Boeske. ?We needed to bring water, which has been completed, and build a roadway beside Costco which is Spring Creek Crossing.?

With the agreement approved, Costco will now gain its permits in the near future, allowing the company to begin construction on the site, while the city and the developers finish their agreed-upon work.

?They haven?t pulled their permits yet, but this is what they needed before they would pull them,? said Mayor Merle Aaron. ?We should be in good shape as far as them pulling those in the next few weeks, and then we?ll get started.?

The city will still be responsible for a bit of further construction including a stop light at the entrance of the shops. The light could be the only hold up for the city, but Aaron expects it to be built ?well before (Costco) needs it to be done.?

During last month?s city council meeting, the council approved approved the 18.9 acre site for Townsen Landing Village. The site includes a 742,562 square-foot site which is restricted to commercial use for Costco Wholesale, as detailed in the plat submitted to the city of Humble.

?It?s going to be a pulling mechanism from the north and the west because Costco is well known,? Aaron said. ?It?s going to be very good for the city of Humble.?

At this time, the council is unsure of an exact date for when construction is set to begin, due to the permits needed by Costco, or the opening day of the store. The Observer will continue to include additional details once they are made available and confirmed.

Vespers and a287 are clearly outnumbered. It's gonna happen like it or not. I happen to LIKE it.

I'm looking forward to it. Went into Sam's once which was the first and last time. And you really have to know the prices as sometimes you pay less at Walmart than Sam's. 

Just use Amazon prime, don't even have to drive, can't beat their prices. Can even set it up automatic recurring deliveries for commodities. 

I go to Sams because you can buy choice meat at a better price versus having to pay premiums at the meat counter in grocery stores. Most all of their meat is contracted through Tyson and they turn it fast enough that freshness is not a problem. Costco is the same way so the better price wins out for me.
I don't care for either store's political stance but I am all about buying the best product I can afford. 

I looked for the one that is opening in Pearland in October. I couldn't see any construction along 288. It could be 45 though but 518 is where it is growing. I love shopping there and I don't usually know I am looking for something until I see it. I do have Amazon Prime but the deals aren't that good to me. 

What's the difference between Costco and Sam's?

The Costco in the Woodlands carries more organic food than Sam's in Humble. They also have a larger selection of ready made single serving salads and other meals. The meat/deli area has a larger selection. 

All the Costcos are like that- way superior to Sams-
