I need recommendations for an OBGYN in the Kingwood area . I thought I found one until I got pregnant and couldn't get a darn appointment. The office I tried is just too busy and they won't even let me change dr's within the office! They have to get it approved by their office manager! Plus, they said it could take a week to hear back from the office manager!!! Are you kidding me??? I think I should be the one to decide who I choose to be my Dr! 

I like Julie Bernell. 

I see Dr. Mahan and he's been great so far. Got an appointment right away. 

Did you try Her Healthcare? Or is that the one you had problems with? 

I wouldn't go to Mahan if my life depended on it.

Did not have a good experience.

It was actually Julie Bernell's office I had trouble with. I have only been seen by her PA who I really, really loved but unfortunately I know that she won't be the one to deliver. I was willing to start with a different dr in the same office but I was really turned off when they said it would take a week to let me know if it was even possible! 

I may look into Her Healthcare. I don't know much about that office, I'm still pretty new to this area. 

I was a patient of Dr. Bernell's for many, many years. I finally gave up because it was always so difficult to get an appointment and I usually had to wind up seeing her PA. I had my first appointment today with Dr. Zavala at Care for Women. I was very impressed with her. I finally felt like someone listened to my concerns instead of trying to rush off to another patient. 

I just delivered a little over two weeks ago, dr. Boyd with Her Healthcare is amazing!! The final two months of my pregnancy were really tough on me and I wound up needing 4 kidney surgeries while pregnant. Scariest time in my life and dr. Boyd was amazing through it all!!! This was my second child with Dr. Boyd. best of luck! 

I had a terrible experience with Dr Boyd. Will never go back to her again 

I go to Dr. Leeds-Richter and love love love her. She is very matter of fact though. Not a warm personality but knows her stuff and tells it like it is. 

Me and my DD go to Dr. Leeds-Richter also and she is great.

Wow! That's sad to hear! I researched for a good 3-4 months before we started to try to get pregnant and he was highly recommended along with the other doctors in that office! I haven't had any issues. I hated care for women! They constantly lost my bloodwork, gave me different scripts from what I was taking, never returned my calls, and waited forever in waiting room and exam room. 

I sent you pm's months back stating my reasons as to why. So, not sure why you're acting surprised in this thread....lol.

I love Dr. Mahan's office as well. I've used them for for 13 years and have always had the best of care. Not just Dr. Mahan, but all the obgyn's and phys. Assistants have been great to me. Sorry you've had such a bad experience, Dorothy, maybe just a bad day?

No, he missed the chance to biopsy something that ultimately caused me to have an emergency hysterectomy with an oncologist.

As long as you don't have any complications, maybe he's competent, I have no way to know. I only had one pregnancy under his care. 

I see Dr. Mahan since he was the only one in the area that had any clue about pregnancy and Lymes 

Dr. Brenda Uribe-Torres at Care for Women has been my OB/GYN for almost 15 years. She delivered both of my babies (one was scheduled section). I really like her!
