This is one fast food place that I'm actually looking forward to. Any word on when it is opening? 

It looks like the El Pollo Loco chain from out West. That chicken is marinated and really tasty, grilled awesome flavor. Looks like I'm gonna be in to give it a try!

I'm from Southern Cali and I miss Pollo Loco, so I'm actually very excited about them coming here to Texas. As a matter of fact, one will open in Humble, same plaza as the new Kroger's on 1960. Pollo Tropical, I heard is also very good. 

How are you going to pronounce pollo? I will do it correctly.

I looked at their menu. Very interesting, it looks like a nice change from the usual burgers fries, taco or fried chicken. There were actually some healthy looking options too. 

How did you find a menu? All I could see was some pics of food-

It's not like Pollo Loco other than the chicken is slow roasted - not Mexcian or Baja at all - it's a caribbean flavors. 

Still sounds good and interesting, and different!

What exactly are Carribean flavors? I know I'll like it, but they serve rice and beans as sides which El Pollo Loco does too. Maybe there's Carribean rice and bens!

Anyone know if they have opened yet? I drove by a week ago and they looked completely finished and had some balloons out front but it wasn't open. I wasn't sure if that was for a job fair perhaps or grand opening prep. 

I was by there yesterday, still not open.

Caribbean flavors consist of various spices - cinnamon, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, tamarind, ginger. Colombo and jerk seasonings are great too.

It's really a mixture of sweet and heat, lots of savory but light foods, and fresh is best.

I recently ordered a cookbook called African-Vegan; the recipes are a fusion of African, Caribbean, and Southern Cooking for vegetarians and vegans. So excited to get it!

I went by yesterday and it looked closed. They had employees in there but they were sitting at the tables. Probably pre-opening training going on still.

Pollo Tropical, the Caribbean-inspired restaurant brand, will hold its grand opening Friday, April 24 at the Kroger Marketplace Shopping Center at U.S. Highway 59 and Northpark in Porter.
