In 2012, Lindsey Stone posed in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. Her life has been in shambles since.

She said she was just making fun of the sign. I think she probably is telling the truth about that.

But what is pitiful is that she could even think that there was anything remotely funny about the sign, given the setting.

I can't imagine how anyone could be there and not be moved and humbled by what it represents.

What social media and facebook has reduced some people to for laughs and attention is pretty pathetic.

mutton --- 10 years ago -

Yes, not amused at all...

Not KU --- 10 years ago -

I saw this on Facebook and decided. Who hasn't done something stupid? No harm done. As a nation, we have bigger problems to deal with.

Seriously?

As a vet, Mark, I would have expected you to have a different opinion of what she did.

Not KU --- 10 years ago -

I don't condone what she did. Im just more interested in real issues, not frivolity.

No harm done. She didn't deface any property, or vandalize anything. Its just stupid. Who hasn't done something stupid?

Its about putting things in perspective.

whatchamacallit --- 10 years ago -

Whatever her reason, her ignorance was definitely showing! I'm taking bets on whether or not she she votes Dem or Rep.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 10 years ago -

I can already guess what side of the aisle she supports.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

What an azz hat- she got what she deserved-

sheddy --- 10 years ago -

She did a stupid thing. This should be an example to everyone to think before you pull something dumb in front of a camera. This stuff never dies.

a889324uu --- 10 years ago -

I'll bet she votes Republican.

As a whole, they hate veterans.

That was a few years ago. What's her life like now?

It's just rude, stupid and oh so classless. I hope she learned something.

Leila --- 10 years ago -

Ironically, the soldiers whose remains are interred on those grounds
served our country to protect the freedom to do what she did.

Nightshade --- 10 years ago -

Seriously? As a vet, Mark, I would have expected you to have a different opinion of what she did.

Why? She was young and ignorant. My father was a WWII vet and I'm sure he would've said the same thing.

The internet blows everything out of proportion.

kingwood resident --- 10 years ago -

She is disgusting and should pay for what she did. Totally disrespectful.

logic --- 10 years ago -

Why? She was young and ignorant.

I don't consider 30 to be that young. She knew what she was doing.

Three Greens and a Red --- 10 years ago -

The picture was taken in 2012 and it's an argument NOW? And whether she votes republican or democrat is of zero matter since her action is representative of neither ideology.

SleightOfHand --- 10 years ago -

"I'll bet she votes Republican.

Looks like JAMS is being her lovable self

LOL......... you're thinking of liberals.

They despise veterans.

alldayredux --- 10 years ago -

The money republicans want to give to the military is via McDonnell Douglas, Boeing,, Northrupp Grumman, etc
The troops don't see anything from that crowd. The troops are convenient blotches for the gop feeding their donors.

Such liars.

Not KU --- 10 years ago -

Republican.

Soup soup soup...Im liberal AND a Vet...Go figure.

A surviving spouse gets a flag a free burial and SOMETIMES a small pension.
Their is pressure on budgets as it is and all increases are rejected.
It is a disgrace. I know many dead vets spouses who were f'd by the "support the troops" bumper sticker crowd.
I do think if they knew the truth they'd change their attitude about who is truly on their side.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

Wrong. Servicemembers? Group Life
Insurance (SGLI) benefit of $400,000 and the death gratuity from
of $100,000. Not to mention social security and numerous other educational and dependant health benefits.

I know many dead vets spouses who were f'd by the "support the troops" bumper sticker crowd.

No you don't.

alldayredux --- 10 years ago -

The group life is useless when it sits in a VA office for years.

Yea I do potato peeler.

FNHO --- 10 years ago -

A certain wingnut doesn't know any vets who committed suicide or any widows without enough benefits to live on with kids.
Spew those RNC taking points Hoss.

a889324uu --- 10 years ago -

SGLI is only for those that qualify.
Not every veteran /spouse is eligible.

Butterbean --- 10 years ago -

I go with the "dumb action in a moment of dumbness." Don't think it merits much punishment or attention.

I've certainly had my moments of stupidity.

Are we great again yet --- 10 years ago -

Chick? How old are you ? Really, mr.progressive?
