I'm purchasing a new vehicle and currently shopping for an extended warranty. I noticed GM warranties online. Has anyone ever gone this route?

How long is the factory warranty - 3 years? Save your money.

4 year 50,000 mile warranty. I want to extend coverage longer than 50,000.

We purchased an extended warranty for my daughter's car. The warranty paid $94 for a $600 repair bill.
Needless to say, we cancelled the warranty.
Total waste of money.

If your new car needs an extended warranty, you need a different new car.

We buy extended warranties because we are not mechanics. Aside from oil change appointments, which are done by the Dealer btw, we are engine-stupid. Our cars are taken care of by the Dealer and we have been happy with the warranty coverage we get. Our current car pays 100% for 10 years. ETA of course, we intend to keep our car until it drops dead.

Looks like PT Barnum strikes again ;)

We have bought the extended warranties on a couple of cars. They both paid off in the long run, but we knew how long we were planning on keeping the cars. I tend to think extended warranties on anything is a huge waste of money. Most things are covered by the manufacturer long enough to know if you have a lemon.

Statistically, it's not a good buy.

Think about it this way.....what vehicle is least likely to need repairs? A new one.

But if you get a lemon of a new car, you can get lucky.
