Anyone know anything about this dance?

It's my sons first dance and I'm not sure what to expect.

Do they usually have pictures available to take? How much are they?

Do most of the kids dress up?

Anything a mom should be aware of?

From what I hear, there's some suggestive dancing or grinding in the center of the dance floor so maybe he wants to stay away from that. I don't think they take pictures at this dance. Yes, the kids dress up in 80s attire. That's about all I know. Did you get the email the school sent out about the dance? If not, here's is it:

The annual KHS "Bad 80's" back-to-school dance is this Saturday from 8PM to 11PM at the Humble Civic Center.
ID Badges are required.

This dance is only for Kingwood High students. (No outside guests)

Cost is $15 each purchased at lunch, or $20 each at the door.

For those new high school parents, below is the basic info on the "Bad 80's" dance:

1. Students are encouraged to dress in their best 80's fashions, but they must remain within dress-code requirements.
If you're dropping off students at the dance, you will be amazed and amused at their 80's costumes. Did we REALLY dress like that????

2. KHS faculty and Humble ISD Security will be chaperoning the dances.

3. Please do not drop off your students too early. The doors will not open until 8PM.

4. Please make arrangements to pick up your child at 11PM. The Humble Civic Center has plenty of parking...no need to get stuck in the circle drive at the front door.
There are two entrance/exits from Will Clayton Parkway and one at the library on South Houston Avenue (Old Humble Road)

5. Students can leave the dance at anytime, but may NOT RETURN once they leave.

6. There is not a purse/shoe/phone check-in area. They are responsible for their things.

7. Water bottles will be available free of charge in the Special Events Room, just outside of the main ballroom. They cannot bring drinks to the dance floor.

8. If you need to pick-up your child at a certain time, please make arrangements with them ahead of time. We will not stop the music and announce your child's name as the would be a major social disaster in the teenage world.

9. KHS dances continue to attract large attendance. We have outgrown our school cafeteria and gym for our dances. In 2009, we moved our dances to the Humble Civic Center. We have to book the Civic Center one year in advance. That is why the Homecoming Dance is often a week or more after the Homecoming Game. We try to work the football schedule around the dance dates, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. This year, the Homecoming Game is at 1PM on Nov. 1st and the dance is that same night.

10. If your student lost their ticket, no need to panic. We will have a list of students that purchased tickets at the tables inside the Civic Center.

Thank you!!

Apparently, they will also be doing Breathalyzer tests at dance.

Why on earth would he want to stay away from that?
