I have to label my son's clothes for camp, including socks and "performance" underwear (meaning it isn't cotton - it is underarmour-like material).

Sharpie on bottom of socks? Is there any way to label black socks or do I need to go purchase white/other color?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Use a silver sharpie for the bottom of socks.

You can buy iron on labels with their name. google it.

I know there are iron on labels, but you can't iron on the underwear - it will melt. Was wondering if anyone has successfully used the Martha Stewart Avery labels that do not need ironed.

Never heard of them.

I used kidecals.com several years ago and the labels stayed on for over a year.

I used to label my sons' and they lose stuff anyway. I would try and stress to your son to immediately put his dirty clothes in a garbage bag inside his suitcase and that way you have a better chance of getting them back. I've also used baggies to pack and it seems to help clean clothes not get thrown around and lost. You can put a days outfit per bag (and you would be surprised how many come back unopened because they rerun clothes) or you can Baggie up socks and underwear only.

I bought labels from emilypress.com for all our school and preschool stuff. I put them on everything - supplies, sippy cups, clothes, shoes, jackets etc. I've washed them over and over again throughtout the year in the washing machine and dishwasher and they still look like they're brand new. Not a single one has peeled or started to lift off. Definitely check them out!!

we used the sharpie laundry markers. At camp they aren't going to be washing the clothes and it will stay on. Just put their initials in small items like unders.

They will be laundering at this camp, so I need to make sure it will stay on - will do some trial runs this week. Thanks!!
