OMG, just got a call from New Caney ISD that a child was followed from their home to the bus stop by a oriental man in a red mustang. Assuming they were harassing the child. Middle school child but still.... That's scary....

Not racist comment. It was describing the individual in the car and that is the only information that the child gave. Only someone who is racist would even think the original comments were racist.

But the notification from New Caney said "an Oriental man in coke bottle glasses, buck teeth and a rice hat driving a red mustang..."

 

I hope the school district didn't use the word Oriental...that is not quite N word territory, but it is somewhat derogatory.

What if he's not a US citizen...?
Is he just an asian-asian? What if he's from somewhere in Europe? Asian-French (French-Asian perhaps)?
...and with the country in a solid downward spiral, it's the -american part that's offensive at this point, not the ethnicity identifier.

I can be extremely concerned about what has happened, be on the lookout, and make fun of all kinds of things.
