Hey,
I'm looking for someone that is interested in developing software games to partner up with. I'm currently working on a strategy game that's being developed in C# using the Unity game engine. If you have an interest and some programming experience give me a shout.

What are you looking for exactly? Do you already have your 3D assets modeled and/textured? What 3D software are you using for content, 3ds Max or Maya by chance? Are you looking for C# AI work, network code, shaders or ??? What game platform is your target?

Is this a paid gig or work for possible profits?

Lots of areas when you say game coding.

Well, first off, to address the elephant in the room it is not a paying gig unfortunately. It would be a work for possible profits set up. I wish it was for pay (wish it was pay for me!), but it is a 'after work' type project.

I don't have the assets (I'm not artistic enough to actually put together the models and whatnot) so if anyone has that skill that is pretty large - if not, I had planned on purchasing the assets down the road.

The initial platform is for PCs but a web version would be planned for a later iteration.

There are lots of areas and I left it deliberately vague because right now it is just me working on it and basically everything needs doing. I have no software for the content at this point - working on the guts and not the looks of the game right now. I can do the AI and network code.
Basically hoping to find a partner in crime to work with, as people who have worked on any large software project it is not something that easily done by one person.
Hope I satisfactorily answered all the questions, if not, keep asking and I'll try again.

I am a CG artist but work on the development side of things now days. I primarily use 3ds Max but know Maya, Softimage XSI, and others. Artist wise I've developed game content for Time Warner, MGM, Mattel, etc.

If you have AI and net code handled what are you looking for C# wise?

Do you have a project outline or storyline written up?

gamingguy --- 11 years ago -

To be clear, I have not coded the AI or network portions yet but can do so.
There is more to the game than just the AI, it is intended to be a grand strategy simulation (something along the lines of the Civilization series of games but more involved). So there is a lot of functional code that needs to be written (how does population increase, how does technology advance, etc).
There is also the need for UI design (I kind of suck at laying things out in a good-flowing way, just shove stuff up there willy-nilly).
Then there are the assets that need to be done. I can do all the coding in the world but modeling objects and generally making things look like they were done by someone older than a toddler is not my forte.
I do have a rough outline of the game, and lots of the methods needed already designed. Really looking for a collaborative effort.

Have you thought of crowdfunding?

winjer --- 11 years ago -

Crowd funding can be great but it is a risky option with games. It rarely works until you have content and prototypes to show off your project.

In the game industry as a whole there are countless games that started out well but never developed over time. It takes a lot more than most people realize. Top tier games have huge budgets and large teams that work for two to three years on the game. Grand Theft Auto 5 generated $815 MILLION in its first 24hrs of sales and over $1 Billion in three days. However, the indie game industry is doing well so small teams can still have a hit on the market.

Crowd funding for PC only games is getting harder as well as people want mobile apps. It's best to have a server / client model so people can play from PC or their tablets/phones.

But back to the OP's thread, I would be interested in hearing more, please PM me your email address.
