Yes??? Give us a report, please? :)

I'm fighting not starting to cut back things that didn't make it through the freezes and I'm about ready to get the garden spot ready.
What's tha' word Bill?

I am so ready for spring. I've got some zinnia seeds in and watching them carefully. Trimmed back some oleanders and cut some lower limbs on my orchid tree. Hoping to spend most of the weekend out in the flower beds and garden spot.
Bring it on!

Well now that I did THAT....ALWAYS BE PREPARED for a frost....its ok to get started planting your stuff , just be ready to protect it. Certain veggies are going to wait on the heat to do really well, remember that!

0We have the first Green tomatoes and red slicers thanks to farmers in southern Floida....go to facebook/willmonfarm for all our info.

My Mom always warned to wait until after Easter to plant new. We almost always have one last little freeze before that. Time to plant shrubs, trees, trim etc. but still early for tender plants. Ok to plant them, just be prepared to cover if we get that one last snap

My Mom always warned to wait until after Easter

June, that was always my Dad's philosophy but Easter is way late this year like 4/21 or something close to that.
I'll have my few little tomato and pepper plants in the ground in a couple of weeks - and prepared to cover them in the event of a frost.

Go for it mutton ... just keep an eye on the weather reports and be prepared to cover them in the event of frost.

The Easter date is normally a good go by, except this year since its late April.

I can't wait to get my hands dirty:)

Farmer Bill --- 11 years ago -

put in 2000 tomato plants so usually wait till after the second week in march to start. Last year I put 400 out and had to cover them 4 times.....unusual. We had a frost here April 20 last year. BUT, if you are a farmer you gotta get started early as possible....regardless.

You just never know with Houston's weather:)

june --- 11 years ago -

Yes with Easter being so late this year we can probably feel safe a bit earlier. This is Houston so we just have to be prepared to cover if we get a late frost/freeze.
The last few years have been so unpredictable.
