Still sleeting over in K.R. as of 2:35pm. Temps holding at 30 degrees, and supposed to fall through the mid 20's tonight. If that is the case, we will stay frozen and not have a chance to thaw out at all. I am wondering if the kids will be off again tomorrow. 

Tough call but I'm betting we will be back at school tomorrow. Patios and things were frozen but I don't think most streets and bridges ever froze over. 

If the temps continue to drop below freezing and we get a Hard Freeze as predicted, as wet as it is now ice could easily form over night. The morning will be slow to thaw until the temps go above freezing. If buses can't move on the roads, I doubt there will be school. It will be a late night/early morning call for sure. 

My DD has an animal at the Ag Barn so she has to go feed twice a day no matter what. She and I both think it's funny she drives right by the school to get to the barn. No ice on the roads and no bridges between our house and school. I know that a lot of the kids do have to cross elevated roads or bridges but she is getting frustrated because she had the flu for a week and is still trying to catch up. Oh well, better safe than sorry. 

It will be a late night/early morning call for sure.


Yep, I'm thinking another 5am text from HISD. I think after today, they don't have anymore inclement weather days in their schedule, so it will start to accumulate at the end of the school year from here on out. 

I really hope we can go to school tomorrow! 

I still have a lot of icicles hanging around my place and sleet accumulation on the roof and in the flower beds.

Seems like the temp may have already started to drop again so I don't see much thawing out happening to what is already here.

Maybe the roads are just fine and in that case, getting the kiddos back to school tomorrow, shouldn't be a problem. Just dress them warm to get into and out of school buildings. 

It will more likely be a delay opening.

They have already announced they will be open

My district email just said school will be OPEN tomorrow.

But we all know that is subject to change at 5 am. 

The website says we will have school tomorrow. In Alabama the teachers are stuck at school with their students tonight. 

Houston will be open, but it's a scheduled early release day- 2 1/2 hours early-
