I stopped in yesterday to donate treats. Wow, it tore me up not to adopt! The staff works with the dogs so much! Every single one was friendly, saton command and was comfy with other dogs. I met a medium sized dog, chocolate Brown silky hair with golden highlights, who was so gorgeous & utterly polite! There was a big German shepherd with on crazy ice blue eye who was an absolute teddy bear. A spunky lean body white dog who oozed sport dog mentality! And the puppies, omg puppies! Those are only a few of the angels there. I couldn't even make it to the car room, as I knew I'd start stuffing my purse....with cats!
If you know anyone looking to adopt, please have them go in to that shelter. The website does not always reflect who is available. Such as a cute small breed white dog, left tied behind a building :'(
Adoption cost is $0.00 and this is a kill shelter. Please consider fostering, adopting or donating!

Note: posting via phone, forgive grammar & spelling mistakes! LOL

Are you talking about the Humble pound? It isn't a shelter:(. And you are so kind to donate treats! They will be euthanized in a short period of time if not claimed or adopted:(.
The officer there is really nice, but only so many kennels:(.
Humble Pound is in the old part of Humble, kinda near the post office- is the place you are talking about?

FabulousFinder --- 11 years ago -

Yes, that's it. Pound or shelter, they need homes.

Officer said treats were the main item he didn't have. I'm going to do my best to budget them in every 2 week's & drop off. Got a big bag of milk bones, big bag of soft treats & 4 cans soft cat treats for $28 at Walmart.

That's great, FabulousFinder! Thank you for doing this. It breaks my hear that these dogs and cats will probably be put to sleep, eventually. Wish it wasn't a kill shelter. :'( But I do believe they try their best to find owners and to work with rescue groups to get pulled and placed with fosters.

Where is this place, or the name? I have two kittens that need homes, maybe I can drop them off there?? 832-527-3961

FabulousFinder --- 11 years ago -

They are in need of foster families.

Any GSD rescuers around? The gsd there is awesome!

Feline fosters & volunteers needed too.

FabulousFinder --- 11 years ago -

Casey, they do NOT ever take drop offs. It's a kill shelter. No adopter = death. Advertise your kittens on kys/ky.

MYLEVL2 --- 11 years ago -

Yikes, good to know. Thanks!

Bump for these furry friends

Our new rescue dog will be here around 1:30 this afternoon! We're so excited we can hardly wait!!

doglady --- 11 years ago -

Fab Finder-google 2nd Chance German Shep Rescue. They are a great group, if they have a spot for it. May be full tho, most groups are, but worth a shot.

FabulousFinder --- 11 years ago -

I emailed both Houston gsd rescues yesterday. Hopefully, one can get him.

I wish I knew someone looking for a sport dog. One silly young dog there would be awesome at any sport.

Beach Girl --- 11 years ago -

Really breaks my heart! I wish I could adopt all of them! We travel too much to foster right now but would love to in the future!
