Have you tried these? They are THE BEST apples!! Very tasty and I don't think I will ever like another apple any better now.

They are only available this time of year and cost a little more per pound than Red Delicious or others but they are so worth the extra few cents a pound!

Another great thing...i found this as i was doing some research about them: Honeycrisp fruit has shown excellent storage characteristics. The outstanding flavor and texture can be maintained for at least six months in refrigerated storage without atmosphere modification.

YAY!!! I can store them in the refrigerator and keep them for about 6 months.

I wish I could find Johnathan Apples down here. They are great, sweet but not to sweet.

JRG79 --- 13 years ago -

They are my very favorite kind of apple and I do the happy dance in the fall when I see them! I have always thought they were very pricey though. I have been known to pay $8 for four or five large ones. Totally worth it in my book though. Thanks for the info on the storage. I may have to stock up!

i have never bought them before and a lady at the grocery store was raving about them. she said if i ever started buying them, i would look forward to the fall every year when they are available. dang!! she was right on the money about that.

I LOVE Honeycrisp apples!!! Hands-down the best. Apples. Ever. It's Honeycrisp time, and I am going through at least two a day.

I love this apples, but and they last all of two seconds in our fridge... Because of the kids!!lol.

Meow --- 13 years ago -

Yep! Hands down our family favorite. We found them a few years ago and love fall. The only ones we buy in the fall now. In the spring we like Sonya apples or Jazz apples.

pollyanna --- 13 years ago -

I discovered them about 10 years ago at the HEB in College Station and fell in love. They were testing the market with them there...was really disappointed when I came back to Houston and couldn't get any until a few years ago. I love a good, crisp apple.

Okay, going to buy some! Where's the best place?

I think everyone has them right now. I bought mine at Target..big display table at the front of the produce section.

I have never heard of these apples. I want to make candy apples for halloween and I wonder now if I could use them. I like them to be crisp, kind of like a granny apple. These sound yummy though.

ladybeachbum --- 13 years ago -

Target it is! Thanks!
Meme, I was just think caramel apples. I love them!

Meme2my5 --- 13 years ago -

I love the caramel ones too. I usually order Mrs. Prindable apples but I thought I would make them this yr. Hers are caramel then rolled in choc. chips, or peanut butter chips, caramel and choc and coconut. I am so craving one.

meme, as much as i love caramel apples, there is no way i would use these wonderful apples. they are just so good all by them self and need no enhancement.

Meme2my5 --- 13 years ago -

cost a little more per pound than Red Delicious

I didn't know people actually bought those; I thought they were hog feed.

ShookUpRamen --- 13 years ago -

Honeycrisp are good,, about $2/lb at Sam's. But they aren't much better than a good Fuji, Gala, or Braeburn. Defintiely not worth the premium price. With 4 kids, I can't be handing out $1.50 apples either.

lots of people don't eat blackeyed peas either because where they are from, they feed that to cows.

ShookUpRamen --- 13 years ago -

Red Delicious are always mealy; I gave up 20 years ago.

ladybeachbum --- 13 years ago -

GA, good apple or not, a little caramel makes desert! I would eat a caramel apple for desert more than anything I know! I love the place at the Strand in Galveston that has the dressed up apples!

susie q --- 13 years ago -

I'll eat a candy apple, but I've never liked caramel ones.
