Why do I keep trying this place? The first time I went I had a cinnamon roll latte. SO yummy but I was a bit put off by the lack of friendliness by the worker. The second time, my drink tasted a bit burnt and again was ignored until it was my turn. Today, the lady didn't now where the sugar was to make the drink? I'm not sure I'll be back. Is it so hard to say hello when someone walks in!? Especially if your competition is Starbucks. Set yourself apart geez!

Dr Aborto --- 14 years ago -

Kingwood needs a Dunkin' Donuts.

Zionist NightOwl --- 14 years ago -

We're loyal to Javaman in Atascocita, NE corner of Pinehurst Trail and 1960 E. GREAT coffee, great atmosphere/music, and exceptional customer service by the mom and pop owners.

dawndelion --- 14 years ago -

oh, and try the meat market next door, it rocks!

OH SNAP --- 14 years ago -

I think it just depends on if the owners are there or not. One time I ordered my coffee, drove up to the window, then realized I'd forgotten my purse. The owner immediately told me not to worry about it and that I could just pay for it the next time I came back. I made sure I did. =)

mommytbone --- 14 years ago -

Jitters coffee is ALWAYS awesome! Sorry you had a bad experience, but I have been going to them for years and have never had a problem! The people who work there are very friendly and polite to me and my children! It's hard to believe you had that experience!

Feisty1 --- 14 years ago -

So I guess I'm just lucky? Unfortunately, that really doesn't change much for me.

thankfulformyfour --- 14 years ago -

I went there one time...the lady behind the counter blew her nose and then proceeded to make someones coffee without washing her hands...errr

james osterberg --- 14 years ago -

Kingwood needs a Dunkin' Donuts.
They seem to be really proud of their coffee based on the prices at the grocery store. I'm not a coffee sommelier but I was told they use some types of beans that are cast offs. I see them dropping the Donut part of their name soon, like a KFC move.

Dendrobate --- 14 years ago -

My parents have gone there many times and so have I and each time the staff has been extremely friendly and nice. I'm sorry you didn't experience the same.

txmomx5 --- 14 years ago -

Oh theyre always so nice to us. Whenever I order hot chocolate for my kids, they make it a little cooler so it doesnt burn their tongues.

Feisty1 --- 14 years ago -

Geez guys. Is it cuz I have gone in the afternoon? Why am I getting crappy service and y'all all love it?

Dr Aborto --- 14 years ago -

I wasn't a coffee drinker until I tried them. Now we brew Dunkin' at home but it's still better at the actual place. They usually have deals on their website.

Texasteach --- 14 years ago -

I have always gotten good service in the drive thru. I used to go there when it was just a little shack too. But their prices are almost as high as Starbucks now. They used to be less expensive. I like to go to Seattle's Coffee in Kroger. They have "happy hour" Mon-Thurs from 3 to 5pm. It isn't as convenient, but when my little one wants a cream frappachino, it is only a $1.50 for a kid's size. Med drinks are $2 and large are $3 during happy hour. I can get out of there for $5 and change with two drinks and a choc. covered graham. That would be about $8 at Starbucks.

Jpgirl --- 14 years ago -

Not impressed with either Jitters or Dunkin Donuts ( totally yuck). When the owners of Jitters is there it's a bit better but still not thrilled

ontheroad678 --- 12 years ago -

Sign on Northpark reads "This location closing Sept. 8th"

PeopleRPeople --- 12 years ago -

I don't like them either. My parents LOVE them though. They do agree though, that if the owners aren't there, the service is terrible.

Sharticus --- 12 years ago -

Got the inside scoop that Shipley's bought them out and wants to relocate there. The owner of Shipley's likes that red light location and stand alone building.

napoleon --- 12 years ago -

That spot seems too small for Shipleys.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Any time there's less coffee, that's a serious issue....just sayin'.

ontheroad678 --- 12 years ago -

^^^^agreed. It's all about the coffee..LOL

SailorTattoos --- 12 years ago -

I miss those cozy little coffee shops with couches, and real coffee.

They were all the rage in the 90's and then Starbucks killed them off. Now we get burnt coffee.

Have you ever been to Antidote in the heights? Awesome little coffee shop with couches, great atmosphere, great staff, and they don't care how long you stay :)

Ever since the pilot's brother took it over, I've stopped going. That lady is unbearably unwelcoming. Every time I'm there the music is Country. She's the only one that likes country... The whole place is plastered in crosses. They no longer sell wine, or allow you to BYOB. The place looks like a bridge club, and the audience of Jitters is pretty close to your bridge club group..

I think the last time I was there they had some sort of yarn meetup going on. It's like they're doing everything possible to make it as uncool as they can make it. It's the only imaginable non-corporate coffee shop that I've seen tried that makes me want to go to Starbucks.

Good Ole USA --- 12 years ago -

I've never been there, but have friends who love it. And they are closing. Ashame that the service lacks when the owner is away. I hate to see any business close because that is someone's dream. Best wishes to them.

Seattle's Best in Kroger, (and they sell in the store) and Gevalia online, are hands down best coffee, ever!! (IMO) Gevalia's Mocha is to die for!!!

Antidote is actually my favorite coffee spot in all of Houston. I'm there once a week. Coffee and service is good, atmosphere is great. Though I don't imagine it'd be a good match at all for the KU crowd. It's themed to be a grunge coffee shop, and the furniture is clustered.

eterry2 --- 12 years ago -

my daughter loves black hole which is owned by the same people as antidote. she lives in montrose and loves all the indep coffee shops she has to pick from. also likes brasil and empire cafe.

ladyjane --- 12 years ago -

The whole place is plastered in crosses.

Honestly, do some of you people ever stop the anti-Christian rhetoric? You're talking about coffee, for God's (oh, sorry) sake!

ladyjane --- 12 years ago -

Lol, you see no pattern in his comments? You must be new here! And having crosses is akin to "shoving views down your throat?" (Shakes head sadly) Carry on....

ladyjane --- 12 years ago -

I'm sure you'd feel the same if it were an Islamic coffee shop with symbols all over it. Sure, you wouldn't be uncomfortable AT ALL about that. Don't bother answering. I won't believe you.

HA! Just like a liberal! No tolerance at all for beliefs you don't agree with, constant beating of the drums that anyone different from you must hate all your favorite groups.

I actually like a lot of your posts, but in this instance, you need to open your mind. I do actually have several dear friends who are Muslim and, no, they're not all from one family, no, they don't all know each other, and no, I don't care if you believe me. The important thing to me is that they are sincerely doing their best as human beings to honor their religion and they respect that my family is, as well. And we get along just fine.

And their families, as well as mine, find it "offensive and crass" to criticize, make fun of, or otherwise negatively single out anyone for their religious beliefs.

Evan Carroll --- 12 years ago -

Honestly, do some of you people ever stop the anti-Christian rhetoric? You're talking about coffee, for God's (oh, sorry) sake!

I prefer not to have to look at religious symbols while I enjoy a coffee I paid for. What's wrong with that? Keep your religion to yourself. I'll eat at a store managed by Christians. When they feel the need to make their belief part of their business, I stop supporting them.

ladyjane --- 12 years ago -

I just want good coffee, without the extra dose of Jesus or Muhammad or Krishna syrup added in. That is all.

Okay by me. So you don't want to patronize a business where you can tell what a person's faith is. Just maybe, could you cool the rhetoric about stuff being "shoved down your throat?" Because obviously that's not the problem. And could you not add in stuff about others, such as myself, being intolerant of others' beliefs? Because you have no basis for that either.

You just don't want to patronize a business run by someone who reveals their Christian faith.

ladyjane --- 12 years ago -

I shouldn't post when I'm cranky.

It's okay, no harm done!

"any display of religion makes me wonder. "

That's your belief, and I do get why you may think that, but don't you also think it's kind of wonderful to see people who truly live their faiths? Use those principles to guide their businesses and run their families? Why should they have to hide what they believe under a bushel? They could just as cynically declare that, hmmmph, nobody minds finding a place with a cross on it when they need help with food, clothes, or other help in an emergency, right?

I really think you're okay, and please try to understand how exasperated some of us get that so much antagonism is directed toward Christianity. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I will ever read on here that someone refuses to eat in a Chinese restaurant because of those Buddha figurines or in a Jewish deli because they don't serve pork or because they display a star of David somewhere, or to be served by a woman wearing a head covering. That would be quickly identified as "intolerant."

NIght!

Hang in there Dr. A. - I met the new owner of the franchise rights to the Dunkin Doughnuts NE quadrant. He is opening 2 in the Woodlands and then has plans to open one in Kingwood and one in Atascocita.
