If so, what are your thoughts??? Thinking of putting our 2 boys both in piano, one in drums and the other in guitar...

Don't know about Atascocita but I never heard anything bad about Kingwood Music School. Ace Consolation (spelling?) is a member at St. Martha's.

I took drum lessons from Atascocita School of Music. Grant was the owner. Super great guy. He had his mom keeping his books and running the cash register--how sweet is that! I would recommend them to anyone. The instructors were talented. They were also very professional--high praise for drummers;)

My son took guitar there, he LOVED IT! The lady that runs the desk is sooooo nice and friendly, and the teachers are really good with the kids! Excellent place to take lessons :)

I've known Grant since he was a kid. His family is two houses away. His mom,Brenda, still keeps his books and the front desk. My son took guitar lessons and Grant thought he had potential..son didn't practice, Mom took him out.

Thanks for the advice, anyone else?

I've heard great things about them. I am planning to go check them out for guitar lessons for DS and piano lessons for DD.

My Aunt and cousins have taken lessons there - still do - they love it! They actually drive 35-40 minutes each way.

What is a good age to start kids in music lessons?

What is a good age for a child to get music lessons?

Syrah1214 --- 15 years ago -

What is a good age for a child to get music lessons? My kids are 10, 4 (almost 5) and 2. I will start them all as early as they take them. They are like sponges soaking up new learning material the younger they are so my theory is the younger, the better! :)

I have been a guitar teacher for over a decade now. I teach adults too but children fill up most of my schedule. For guitar the best age seems to be about 8 to ten. That's not to say they can't start earlier but the physical demands of the guitar make it tough. If your talking about piano or general music lessons it's much earlier. A good kindermusic program is a good introduction. My brother started at 4 or 5 and was a piano performance major at UNT. Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

I am interested in piano lessons formy 10 yr old daughter. What are the going rates for weekly lessons now?

guitarmike --- 14 years ago -

it's usually around $20 for a half hour lesson.
