A KU Angel has graciously sponsored ds for his Education in Action trip by paying for a package of guitar lessons for some lucky kiddo. Sooooo, if your ds or dd is interested, but you're kinda strapped for cash...now's the time to test the waters! Dh likes to teach older kids who have the interest level and discipline to practice. This is the first time I've done something like this, so I'm guessing this will be a first-come, first-served kind of deal. The same package stands as mentioned on another thread...five lessons, and he will come to your house. It would be nice if they already had a guitar as I think dh is already loaning some out for the duration of these lessons. You can send me a peem with any questions you might have as well as your e-mail so dh can contact you. And I have to take a moment to send a huge heart-felt thank-you to this particular KU Angel. I'm humbled and so very appreciative for such a generous gesture. We are so very lucky to be surrounded by such kind-hearted people who truly care about our children. :) P.S. I will keep this bumped until the slot is filled.

I love KU:) bumpity bump:)

jjfingrainalready --- 16 years ago -

I wish we were closer, I would totally get in on this deal. My DD has a very nice guitar and always wanted to learn to play it, but we haven't had the $ for lessons. She has played violin for 4 years, hand chimes, and piano, so she knows how to read music, it's not like he would have start from the very beginning.

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Oh I wished you lived closer too jjf. Me too Fallon. Bumperoo.

what a WONDERFUL thing for someone on KU to do...and your dh! see, this place is full of kindhearted people!! if my grandson lived over here and not in Spring i would have signed him up. he is 14 and just got a new electric guitar..never has had lessons and learns anything by listening to it for a few minutes and away he goes with it. amazing what someone can do with an ear for music. however, i would love for him to have lessons one day.

karenact --- 16 years ago -

Sending you a pm.

karenact --- 16 years ago -

I can't send you a pm for some reason... anyway we are interested. We are in kingwood off Kingwood Dr. and woodland hills.

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Got your peem, dh has e-mailed ya. :) And don't forget to check your spam folder for his yahoo e-mail. If for some reason you can't, I want to keep this bumped.

He sounds absolutely perfect GA. Dh would have a LOT of fun with him. LOL. He taught oldest how to play over the years, so now I get to cook dinner to a live show every night. Some nights it's jazzy, some nights it's way too loud. But it's awesome, wouldn't trade it for a thing. :)

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Okay we've filled two freebie spots. There may be more if time will allow. I'll certainly let you know. :)

goatlady --- 16 years ago -

I had my lesson on Sunday...It was fantastic! I am sorry it's only 5 lessons. He didn't bore me at all!

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

He didn't bore me at all! Lmao! When he starts talking "guitar" I glaze. Just like I do when he's talking numbers or finances. YAWN.

goatlady --- 16 years ago -

The last time I tried a lesson the guy bored me to tears and gave me stuff to do that was boooorrrrring! Not so with your dh, I even practiced yesterday! Crazy!

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Okay, free lessons up for grab again. Dh will give five (5) 30-minute lessons. These are free because we have received funds from generous KUers who wanted to help fund ds's trip to Dallas to the Lone Star Academy sponsored by Education in Action. This is a perfect opportunity to piddle around a bit and determine if you or your kids might be interested in guitar. Just peem me if interested, and I can get you in touch with dh.

JerryKat --- 16 years ago -

I would love to learn how to play my guitar ....pm me

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Okay JerryKat, you'll be third on the list. Two people have stepped up interested, so if they fall through...you're next. I'll keep everyone updated.

Julmummy --- 16 years ago -

My dd is young, but really wants to learn to play. She owns a guitar too!

leslie --- 16 years ago -

Does he teach adults?

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Does he teach adults? Yes he does. Older kids and adults.

leslie --- 16 years ago -

How much does he charge for lessons for adults?

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

At the school, I believe it's $22 per 1/2 hour.

Aspen Leaf Photo --- 16 years ago -

Still interested in taking students? Our son is interested in learning. Thanks!

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

I can ask him. I'm pretty sure all the freebie spots are taken. He's at the school right now. If you're interested in the school, you can send me a pm and I'll shoot you the number.

MeriZephyr --- 16 years ago -

if freebie spot is open my ds has a beautifu8l ovation he plays, but could use some formal lessons. He played alto sax for years, sang in honor choir and plays keyboard and drums...I will pm ,and if any slots fall through, he'd love the lessons. We live in kwd.

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

I do have to add though...since this thread was bumped, that dh has been very happy with the extra students he took on for ds's summer camp. He has told me that these kids are sharp and very musically talented. He wishes all his students were like some of the ones he has taken on for a bit. Thanks guys BUNCHES! I'm trying to send out thank-you notes, but I realized I know not a daggum thing about any of ya...so... To all who helped in any way, lessons, donations, those who stepped up for the free lessons, EVERYONE... thank you Pictures, Images and Photos

HsMommy --- 16 years ago -

Thank your husband for me. My sister just finished her last lesson and she really enjoy being able to learn more.

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Well I say that cuz very few people have met U! Your dh is proof that u exist!!!! :) Yeah, I'm a bit of an agoraphobic. With Panties coming in, I'm afraid that might alter things just a hair. Daggumit. LOL.

ambergris --- 16 years ago -

Well I say that cuz very few people have met U! Your dh is proof that u exist!!!! :) LOL. That's what I thought too. I've been on here for almost 4 years and have never met JMABS. Her DH seems like a really cool guy though and DD is loving her lessons.
