Frequently I see posts on here about lost and found dogs and cats. I know first hand how hard it can be to lose a pet and to find one and not be able to find the rightful owner. When my cat was missing last year, I found some useful websites that I thought I would share with everyone. All of these will allow you to post pictures (can't remember if they charge you or not for posting the pictures, but it has to be worth it). For Cats Only - Tabby Tracker For Dogs Only - Fido Finder Pets 911 Find That Pet On findthatpet.com they actually have a map showing where pets are missing from/located. Of course I always suggest putting up posters, talking to the kids in your neighborhood, calling all of the local vets (most of them take reports and put them in a book), and posting messages at the local pet stores, like Pet Ranch. For those of you with missing cats, they can tend to be very scared when they are lost, and they can hide - sometimes even in your own back yard. I always tell people with missing cats to go door to door on your block, and the back side of your block, and knock on doors and give out an individual flyer. If the resident isn't home, tape it on their door knob with masking tape so it doesn't ruin the finish. For the cat flyers, remember to put on there, "Please check all of your garages, bushes, and sheds". My story has a happy ending; he returned home after 13 days and to this day I am CONVINCED that he was locked in one of my neighbor's garages that has more crap in their garage than I have in my entire house. The day after my husband and I went door to door with the flyers, our cat returned. Good luck to all of you and don't forget to spay and neuter your pets.

omg ~ what a wonderful thing to post. People who have lost a pet know the agony first hand and having useful info like this at hand could be very helpful. You are right about cats too. Years ago I was robbed (lived in an apt in Austin). The thief broke a window to get in and then left the front door wide open upon exit. My 8 yr old cat (at the time) got out. I was frantic and made flyers and went door to door at the complex. After days of knocking on doors and bawling I was sitting on the floor one night with the sliding door open and just the screen closed when up she came. She was terrified for days - every little noise scared her but eventually she got back to normal. Thanks for the post.

Bumping per your request. One of these sites either moved or is no longer working/valid. Good luck!

The "Find That Pet" link no longer works, which is sad, because that was a really good website. It showed a map where the pet was lost or found. :-(

I found this website, though. I haven't downloaded the guide (don't know if it's free) but for those that can afford it, this might be something for you to consider:

FOUND Male Pit Bull. Very friendly but no collar or microchip. Found in King's Forest. Mostly white with black markings. I can't keep him for long as I have small dogs.

Too many pit bulls not enough limbs.

My kitty was recently missing and I second or third all of the above. My kitty also returned home after 10 days a few of those days being in the awful storms that came through. I can honestly say so many people contacted me about possible sitetings. It warms my heart being news to this area.
