So while the hot topic of the day on KU today has been who said what on which site, the U.S. has been under attack on the 11th anniversary of 9/11.

Cairo Protestors Scale U.S. Embassy Wall, Remove Flag.

All kind of ironies in this:

So the embassy Twitter account was making all kind of apologies today stating that they support all religious faiths, yet:

"Reuters reports that protesters tried to raise a black flag carrying the slogan: "There is no god but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger."

and then . . .

"The AP says the protesters were largely ultra-conservative Islamists."

. . . as in the party that is in power now in the Egyptian government.

Iran and Arab news sources blame the Egyptian Coptic Church . . . you know the ones that are being murdered in their homes. 100,000 have fled the country since the Muslim Brotherhood candidate won office.

CNN says the film is Dutch. So how does that make sense? It is a Dutch film, so attack the U.S. embassy.

Part of the outrage is over this:

"The AP says clips of the film available on YouTube show the prophet having sex and question his role as the messenger of Godâ??s words."

Get offended all you want, but it is a historical fact that he had 11 (by some accounts 13) wives. I'm pretty sure he had sex. That isn't even touching on the fact that he married his *favorite* wife when she was only NINE years old.

If that weren't enough, the consulate in Libya was attacked by armed gunman today as well.

While the US is kissing up and trying to placate their "religious feelings," they are killing and dominating any who don't believe in Islam. They don't play by the same rules.

SmoochieAndTheBean --- 12 years ago -

That all just makes me sick :/

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

Should we play by their rules? If we did, would that make us better than them?

How do you deal with religious fanaticism?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 12 years ago -

extremism is by definition, a scary thing...that said, being an American, it's been made clear that we're considered the enemy by that particular religious group, and I'm more aware of that on this day, than any other-

u uic --- 12 years ago -

Yes the world is better under the new Egyptian government - obama

whatchamacallit --- 12 years ago -

Oh, come on you guys! This is Democracy in action!

justforfun1 --- 12 years ago -

Come on peeps, Obama and the dems have our back. We are safe as anyone in this country at this time could be. Run for your life now.

voice of reason --- 12 years ago -

How do you deal with religious fanaticism?

good question.
let's discuss in relation to the here and now.
all religions in extreme form that go beyond just their own personal worship and try to infiltrate the lives of others with their beliefs should be put to a halt.
let's start with a grassroots effort to end the fundamentalists.
once we get those extremists under control we can tackle islam extremists.

voice of reason --- 12 years ago -

Get offended all you want, but it is a historical fact that he had 11 (by some accounts 13) wives.

hold on now.
this sounds like mormonism.

JohnLynch --- 12 years ago -

then your ramblings should be put to a halt

It's certainly worked for me-

Defcon1 --- 12 years ago -

If we weren't policing the world and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people over the past decade, we wouldn't have to worry about it.

Just made my day.

Ezekiel 23 20 --- 12 years ago -

If we weren't policing the world and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people over the past decade, we wouldn't have to worry about it.

The middle east has always have a stick up their butt about the west because they're not quite "first world" but more second world. Instead of blaming their government or religion, somehow we are the cause of their misery.

Democracy would do wonders for the region. We had a great opportunity to advance democracy with the Arab spring, but Obama blew it.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 12 years ago -

the Arab countries have almost always been at war with each other..it's only now, that they have common "enemies"-

justforfun1 --- 12 years ago -

What happened on 9/11 is what these people have been doing to each other for decades except this time they brought it to us.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 12 years ago -

exactly..before political correctness, there was a joke, "what do you get when you put 2 Arabs in a room together? A war!!"

Defcon1 --- 12 years ago -

We had a great opportunity to advance democracy with the Arab spring, but Obama blew it.

How is it in any way our business to decide what kind of governance other nations have?

These people wouldn't hate us if we didn't wage war on innocent middle-eastern nations for over a decade.

As for "They've always been at war" come on...America has been at war since her inception. Constantly. Almost our ENTIRE existence we have been at war.

Source: At war for hundreds of years.

Carla --- 12 years ago -

If we weren't policing the world and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people over the past decade, we wouldn't have to worry about it.

I have gone over this multiple times before with you and I realize that I am completely spitting in the wind restating this . . .

But that is a COMPLETE lie.

THIS has been standard operating procedure for Islamic governments since Mohammed.

It predates even the idea of the United States.

To say that this just suddenly started because of U.S. actions in the past decade is so ridiculously ignorant that I would have serious concerns about the quality of the HISD educational system if I didn't know that you were completely indoctrinated by Ron Paul and his version of history and foreign policy.

elle --- 12 years ago -

*facepalm*

Defcon1 --- 12 years ago -

But that is a COMPLETE lie.

I'm sorry I've got to pull a lynch, but nope. You're incorrect.

They hate the west because of the way we treat the "evil brown people."

We're no better than them. Like I said, we've been at war constantly since the US came into existence.

JohnLynch --- 12 years ago -

It's certainly worked for me-

so td hides her own posts?...lol

Ezekiel 23 20 --- 12 years ago -

Sounds like Mohammed needs a thicker skin. I could never worship a prophets that acts like a ***sy.

Carla --- 12 years ago -

Should we play by their rules? If we did, would that make us better than them?

I'm not saying play by their rules and do the same thing. I'm saying that Americans need to pull their head out and realize what the situation is.

People have been so brainwashed that even stating the fact that 9/11 was perpetrated by Islamic terrorists is politically incorrect.

Did you know that they didn't even hold a special prayer service commemorating 9/11 at the National Cathedral today? They think it's time that people just "got over it" and a service remembering the victims is just too "divisive."

It's called facts.

Islam is being sugarcoated in the U.S. by selling the idea that it is a "religion of peace" and these are just the actions of extremists.

History shows that to be a lie.

Current events shows that to be a lie.

Pay attention to what is going on in Egypt, in Syria, and in Libya. The killing and suppression of non Muslims. The slave marriages and the abuse and outright murder of women.

I'm saying know what you're dealing with and quit acting like you're under dhimmi and have to apologize for not being Muslim.

snowprincess --- 12 years ago -

Do you worship profits, prophets, both, or neither? I am confused.

justforfun1 --- 12 years ago -

Thank you, at least some can still think outside the box.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 12 years ago -

you only have to look at what's going on in those countries RIGHT NOW...they're killing each other..

elle --- 12 years ago -

Do you worship profits, prophets, both, or neither? I am confused.

I wasn't going to mention money worship + Mohammed, but then I realized the irony of it all and you beat me to it. lol

snowprincess --- 12 years ago -

Carla- take a look at what is going on in our own country and realize that what we see/hear in the media is controlled.

Carla --- 12 years ago -

We're no better than them. Like I said, we've been at war constantly since the US came into existence.

So you think that it was Thomas Jefferson's fault that the Barbary pirates attacked U.S. vessels and forced the U.S. to pay ransom to them?

Keep in mind that in the early days the U.S. was strictly isolationists.

Either Kingwood doesn't teach history or Ron Paul is using some NLP techniques to make you completely clueless.

Prophet, not profit. Corrected.

Profit - hah, there's a Mitt Romney joke in their somewhere.

I keep seeing an 'er' at the end of the second word in your UN instead of an o, and it cracks me up. Don't ever change it.

I will always blame bad typing on my iPad, unless it's really funny then it was intentional.

I love your snarky responses. Does it make you feel less wrong?

P.S. You're not smarter or better than me by any means.

ExLady In Blue --- 12 years ago -

Looks like the embassador to Libya has been killed, along with several others.

Yeah, folks, there's nothing to see here. Let's just keep moving along. :'(

Zionist NightOwl --- 12 years ago -

Ugh! Prayers for his family.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 12 years ago -

Too bad Obama is too busy trying to win an election.

He could start another apology tour.

Tipsyhic --- 12 years ago -

The Muslim Brotherhood candidate won office.
Yea: Almost 4 years now.
